I had been totally loosing my mind. There is suppose to be some sort of hatred or sassy-ness between Captain and I. But instead, its awkward.
Don't get me wrong, I have had plenty of awkwardness with Captain and I. But today was just gone way too far.
As we walked through the hallway to Captain's science room, I noticed how fancy and neat his house was. Not fancy like in the United Kingdom where everything looks like it's been hand made perfect. It was more like a total modern with a pinch of really technological stuff.
"Where are your parents?" I asked and I looked around.
Captain put his hands in his pockets. "My folks travel a lot," he looked down, "currently in Germany," he added.
No wonder he sometimes lacks manners.
"And was that your sister?" I was curious.
"Christina, yes"
He swung a door open and leaned against the door so there was space for me to walk in.
His science room was exactly the way I imagined. Shelves all across the room were filled with rainbows of chemical colors. His ceiling was lined up with long white light bulbs. And there were tables put in a way that it made a path to each shelf.
"I have everything we need to finish the fireworks" he said. I began to notice that he had a pinch of British when he spoke.
It's so weird. He never felt real to me. I always think of him as a character in a play or a book. Like it's not the real him I'm seeing. Maybe he's a spy who pretends to be a scientist. I would totally join him in spying. Besides I have the perfect outfit for it.
I walked and looked around as Captain set up the stuff for the fireworks.
This one shelf in the center had a shiny blob of a metal. It had it's own mini light, just to Spotlight it. The metal seemed far too familiar. Then a little wood carved in a rectangular box sat right beside the metal said, "Aluminium - Brad's Favorite Elemental Metal."
I couldn't stop looking at it. Brad's favorite element was aluminum. Who's Brad?
"Uh do you have a brother?" I asked still staring at the spotlighted metal which basically stared back at me.
"No, it's only Christina and I, and my folks," he answerd. He didn't turn around to look at what was I doing.
"And this is your science room? Like it's not anybody else or like do you share it with someone?" I was being a detective. I needed to get to the bottom of this.
"My father had it built for me, I absolutely do not share it with someone else", he gave a sarcastic laugh.
Brad, Captain's real name is Brad.
I nearly choked at what I had figured out. I was probably the only few who knew his real name.
I laughed really hard inside. A flash came into my head. It was Cassy when I first met her in Science Club.
"Why?" I asked. "Why do you call him Captain?"
"Nobody knows his real name. Everybody, even teachers call him Captain."
My inside laughing suddenly came to an end when I had another flashback. This was the time when Captain gave me my elemental name.
"Aluminium,"
I looked up. It was Captain. He was standing right in front of me.
"What?" I asked.
"Aluminium, that's your elemental name", he smiled.
"Why Aluminium?" I asked.
"Because it's my least favourite element," he smiled again and walked away.
My eyes widened.
Aluminium. That's what Captain, or Brad or whatever calls me. His least favourite element is under a spotlight. Sure.
"Alumin! It's all set up now. Let's begin!"
I turn around breaking my trail of thoughts. I quickly moved the the mirror that was by the shelf and pretended to fix my makeup.
"Kay cool," I said. My voice was shaking. "Be there in a minute."Authors note
I'm sooo sorry for not updating for so long. One thing I wanted to talk about it how I never described how Captain or Allison looked like. It's because I wanted to leave it to you guys to picture out how each character looks like. That's what I love when I read books. But unless you guys want to know who I picture when I think of Allison and Captain and some other people, let me know and I'll post a picture of each character in the next chapter. Feel free to comment what your thoughts are on this book so far. Thank you and have an awesome day. Please comment and vote, it literally makes my day 5,000 times better. And yes I read all of the comments you guys leave. :)
