Six years later...
It has been six years since Maddison's tragic death. A lot of things have changed after she passed away. The relationship of Jeon, Park, and Anglo family isn't the same as before. No more joy, gatherings, or any sort of spark. All sides are in bad blood. Maddison's father, Richard, has been blaming everybody for his daughter's passing. Up to this day, he still can't accept what had happened to the daughter he had always kept protected since birth. He doesn't really contact anyone except for his two beloved grandchildren.
Jihyun is now twelve years old while Sunri is nine. Maddison's death affected the eldest child the most. When he first knew that his mother's death, he refused getting comfort from everybody else. He kept himself away, and cried every single day for six years. Tears just won't stop from coming.
The hatred he has towards Jungkook kept on growing as time passes by. Jihyun wouldn't eat on the same table as him, he wouldn't stay in the same room as Jungkook, nor would he talk to his father. Jihyun just stay inside his room all day, he would never go out unless it's necessary or just because he wants to.
He even thought of moving away and live on his own too. To be honest, it's not impossible for him to do that, just one call to his uncle Jimin or grandfather Richard, he'll have the house he asked for. But because of the memories he has with his mother in their house, he chose not to, and decided to stay there and respect the wonderful memories she had left him.
"I brought food, Hyun! Open up". Sunri spoke from outside.
He stood up from the chair and made his way towards his door to open it for his sister. Jihyun happily let his sister come inside the room. Sunri is also distant from Jungkook, but it's not as worse as Jihyun's. She talks to Jungkook, but you won't find them bonding with each other like how they used to before.
"Are you seriously staying here? I can book you a flight, we can go to America together". Jihyun offered.
He is going to visit his grandfather in America and maybe stay there for a couple of months. Jihyun spends most of his time in America. When he comes back home to South Korea, he just stay inside his room, completely avoiding everyone living under the same house as him except for his younger sister.
"I can't just leave Dad alone like that, Jihyun. He will be lonely if I join you to America". Sunri told her brother.
"Forget about that man and let him be lonely just the way he deserves it". Jihyun replied
It's quite obvious from the look of his face that he is feeling annoyed by how his sister still cares for their father even after what he horribly did to their mother.
"Stop talking about Dad like that, Jihyun. I get where all the frustration is coming from, but he's still our father. I bet Mommy would still prefer us respecting him". She spoke.
"My respect for him died along our mother. Plus, why would I think about he's well-being? He didn't even thought about mom's the night he decided to cheat". He snapped back.
"Mommy never taught us to be like this". Sunri spoke in a low tone.
"You're definitely right, she never did. But what I saw that horrible night made me the way I am right now". He replied.
Jihyun put a spoon full of food inside his sister's mouth to avoid talking about their father much more. A huge bright smile plastered on his face as he stare at Sunri's beauty. He loves his sister too much, he'll do anything to keep her safe. He can't afford to lose her, Sunri is his only sibling, the only living memory of his mother.
The two happily ate together. To Jihyun, he only feels happiness when he's with her. After they finished eating, Sunri offered to clean the dishes but Jihyun politely refused. He doesn't want to trouble her, he wants her to relax. So he told her that he'll clean the dishes on his own.
While walking his way to the kitchen, he met Jungkook who just got home early from work, he also has a little girl with him. Jihyun rolled his eyes, ignore his father's presence, and continued doing his task.
"Join us the next time you eat". Jungkook said as he follows Jihyun.
"I rather starve". Jihyun answered.
"Why are you being like this, Jihyun? Your sister isn't like this, it's just you!". Jungkook spoke, raising his tone a bit.
"You know well why I'm like this, no need for the act. And about my sister, she's just doing all those out of pity". He said.
Jihyun immediately wiped his hands dry as soon as he finished washing the dishes. He wants to avoid talking to his father, they will only end up exchanging hurtful words. Jungkook held his arm, making Jihyun turn around.
"I want the old you back, Jihyun. Where did it all went wrong?". Jungkook said.
Jihyun mockingly laugh at his father's words. "It all went wrong the day my mother lose her life because of you. So don't think about getting the old me back, bring my mother back alive first if you're really desperate". He answered.
"I didn't killed her, Jihyun. How could you say such thing?".
"My mother died with a heavy heart. The man she married and trusted with her everything betrayed her by the most cruelest thing a husband could do to his wife. You freaking cheated on my mother!". Jihyun started yelling, which caught his sister's attention from upstairs.
Jihyun look down at the little girl hiding behind his father, "I hope she loose her mother the way I did. She doesn't deserve happiness when I couldn't". He said and immediately left.
The little girl Jihyun despise is Jeon Jera, his half-sister. The living proof of their father's betrayal. Jungkook's daughter with Vera Lim, his former secretary. The mistress whom started it all. The cause of their heartbreak.
Jera couldn't help but let the tears flow down from her eyes. She understood every single word her brother told her. The little girl always looks forward to hang out with her eldest sibling, but Jihyun wouldn't even allow her to come close which breaks her fragile heart everytime. Jera is getting punish for something she's not completely aware about.
