"Sorry guys... I seemed to... have lost... my wallet."
He was hunched over and out of breath as some of the team members groaned.
"Oh Natsumi this is Su-"
"Sugawara, Koshi right? I'm Shirai, Natsumi its nice to meet you and you dropped this earlier."
I walker over and smiled up at him, blushing a little while handing his wallet back.
"My wallet! Thank you! Thank you so much! Your a lifesaver!"
He hugged me in his excitement, and everybody looked at us in shock. While my face turned bright red from his sudden reaction.
"No fair Suga I wanna hug the pretty girl too!" Noya said while jumping up and down.
He quickly let go, as it was his turn to be red in the face. I laughed because I thought it was cute.
"Oh um sorry about that, and it's nice to meet you too."
"Its fine."
And for moment we just stared at each other until Daichi spoke up, breaking the moment.
"Okay guys back to practice."
"I'd better go too." Suga said, but he had yet to move, making me laugh a little.
"Then you should probably start by moving one foot in front of the other." I teased.
That made him let out a breathy chuckle that had butterflies rioting in my stomach.
"Suga, hurry up!"
"I'm coming! See you after practice Natsumi."
He gave me a smile and ran off before I could tell him I was leaving to go home. Shaking my head I turned to Kiyoko to see her smirking at me. I crossed my arms and glared at her for a second.
"What?"
"Oh nothing."
"Mhmm. Well I should go before it gets dark."
"Why don't you stay and hang out with us after practice?"
"I don't know Ki."
"Its not like you have anything to do when you get home anyway since it's just you in the house."
Sighing, I knew she was right as she often is, so why not.
"Ok fine, but I don't want to be out too late. You know I hate walking alone at night."
After what happened with Shigeru. I became really paranoid, especially walking alone in the dark. It always felt like he was going to pop out of no where.
"No problem, and if it gets too dark, I'll have one of the guys walk you home. Deal?"
"Deal."
"Good. Now be useful and help me with keeping score."
Shaking my head I followed her.
"What am I your slave?"
"You said you'd do anything for your favorite cousin remember?"
I stopped walking and burst out laughing.
"Touché."
~~~
"This was fun guys, but I really should be heading home."
"Ahhh." They all pouted.
I shook my head at their reaction. After practice ended we all got meat buns and ended up going to the arcade to play a few games. I managed to whip every single one of them in one of those racing games. Which made Hinata and Kageyama really competitive afterwards and got us kicked out because of their shouting. Needless to say Daichi wasn't too thrilled.
"Oh by the way, Ki. Here's the spare key to the house just in case."
"Thanks, I'll be sure not to lose it. Are you sure you don't want one of us to take you home?"
"I'm sure. I don't want to bother them."
She looked at me for a second and then just sighed.
"Fine. Call me when you get home."
"I will. Bye guys!"
"Bye!"
I gave Kiyoko one last hug, and turned to leave, when Suga stopped me.
"Nastumi wait a sec."
"What's up?"
"Let me take you home. It's not safe walking out here alone."
"Oh no it's fine. You don't have to do that."
"I know, but the gentleman in me wants to."
He smiled and all I could do was just stare at him for a second. All night my eyes had involuntarily tracked him, we hadn't spoken much to each other, but I couldn't deny my intense attraction to him. And lord knows it was killing me not to blush every time he smiled. It's been a while since I blushed this much over a guy. The last time that happened was when I first started dating Shigeru. And just like that, cold water had rained down on my giddiness and left me feeling anxious.
'I can't go through that again. I need to tell him no.'
"I..um.."
Before I could get another word out he gently grabbed my hand and gave me a small smile.
"Please."
'Who am I kidding? I can't deny him when he looks so sincere. I hope I don't regret this.'
"...Ok."
"Great. Lets go."
Still holding my hand, he led me towards the parking lot where he had parked his car.
"Here, I'll get the door for you."
"Thanks."
He helped me into the front seat and closed the door once I was in and then he jogged around to his side and hopped in. I gave him my address and in less than 15 minutes we were pulling in my drive way. He got out, opened my door and walked me to the front door. I fished out my key and unlocked the door, but before I could step in, I turned to face him.
"Thanks for the ride home."
"You're welcome...."
He looked like he wanted to say something else, but held his tongue. Which made me curious.
"Are you okay?"
"Yeah. I just...wait here a second."
"Ok?"
He turned back to his car and opened the trunk to pull out something. He hid it behind his back before I could see it and walked back to me.
"While we were at the crane machines earlier I noticed that you were struggling to get this, so....here."
My eyes went wide as he held out a teddy bear plushie that I almost spent all my money to get. I reached out and took it from him, the fur was just as soft as I imagined it would be. I couldn't help, but smile as I cuddled the bear to my chest. This was the sweetest thing anyone had done for me.
"Thanks, Suga."
Being bold for a second, I hugged him tight, and when I pulled away he was bright red.
"You're welcome. I just thought it would be a good present to welcome you to Karasuno."
"Well it's was definitely sweet of you to do this, and I can only imagine how hard it was to get this."
"Nothing I couldn't handle."
I laughed as he looked away trying to act cool.
"Anyway, thanks again for the ride and my present."
"No problem. I'll see you tomorrow."
"Good night, Suga. And be safe on the way home."
"I will. Good night."
He walked off as I went inside and closed the door. I cuddled the bear and inhaled deeply. I couldn't help but smile.
"It smells like him."
