Its been 5 years since Shigeru was arrested, and I have finally moved pass my trauma with a little help from a therapist and support from friends and family. Suga and I are now married and pregnant with our first child, who should be here any day now. Which means around the clock visitors. Hence, why I'm in the kitchen making lunch now. Koshi always worries about me over doing it, but I don't mind.
'I mean I'll have to cook more often when the baby gets older, so why not start now.'
"Morning Sweetheart. How are my babies?" He said walking over to kiss me.
"Morning my love, and we have been fussy all morning."
He frowned and rubbed my belly.
"Do you want to sit down? I can finish lunch."
"No, its fi-"
I suddenly felt a sharp pain in my stomach making me drop the spatula in my hand.
"Are you ok?"
"Koshi, It hurts...so bad."
Worried, Koshi sat me down in a chair. The pain was excruciating, but then it was over after a couple seconds. I released the breath I was holding and took another deep breath to calm myself.
"I think it's gone."
"I'm taking you to the hospital."
"But what if its nothing?"
He shook his head.
"Remember what the doctor said?
If you feel any kind of sharp pain this close to the due date, we should head in."I sighed.
"I know. I'm just.... scared."
"Hey, everything is gonna be fine. I'll be right by your side the whole time."
I smiled with tears of joy threatening to fall from my eyes.
"Promise?"
He smiled and kissed my cheek.
"I promise."
"Ok."
"Good, now just sit here and I'll be right back. I love you."
"I love you too."
He kisses me, turns off the stove, then quickly starts getting everything loaded in the car. By the time he comes back to get me I'm hit with another wave of pain.
"Alright time to go."
As quickly as he could, he puts me in the car, then he texted the team group chat letting them know the baby is coming. The team agrees to meet us there at the hospital.
"Koshi, hurry. I can't.... take much more.... of this." I breathed out in pain.
"We're almost there. Just hang on a little longer."
"I'm... trying."
After what felt like forever we finally arrived at the hospital, as soon as we reach the door a nurse with a wheelchair is waiting outside. Koshi gets out and greets her.
"Are you Mr. And Mrs. Sugawara?"
"Yes, that's me."
She nodded and brought the chair closer to the door while Koshi helped me out of the car.
"Thank you for calling in advanced. The room is ready, I just need you to fill out this paperwork while we get her settled."
She hands him a clipboard and pen before helping me into a chair.
"Ma'am I need you to breathe deep and try not to push. How far apart are the contractions?"
"I have... no idea but they seem... close together."
"That's fine. I know sometimes, time can feel different when under a lot of stress. I'll get you settled then check to see how dilated you are."
"Ok."
"For now say goodbye to your hubby. He won't be able to see you until we get you in a bed."
Koshi kneels down and grabs my hands to place a small kiss on them, before he looks at me.
"I love you, and I'll see you soon."
"I love you too."
We smile and share one more kiss, and then I am wheeled away to another room, where I was stripped and put in a hospital gown. Next came all the tubes, wires, and the heart monitor. After that they finally let Koshi in to see me. We sat together and waited for hours before the doctor finally came to deliver the baby.
~~~
"One more big push Ma'am, and your done."
"I... can't..."
I've been pushing for God knows how long, and I'm exhausted. Koshi held my hand and tried giving me some encouragement every now and then, but I'm spent.
'Why, is this baby so stubborn?!'
"Come on Sweetheart, just one more and you can rest."
I looked into his eyes and saw all the love he has for me. I drew strength from that and prepared myself for the last push.
"Ugh~"
"That's it... almost... and..."
WAAH
That single cry was everything to me in that moment. With all my energy nearly depleted, I sag onto the bed, and try to catch my breath.
"You did great NaNa."
"Thanks." I breathed.
"Mr. and Mrs. Sugawara, would you like to meet your daughter."
I nodded and weakly reached out for my little girl. Koshi, seeing how weak my arms were, helped me support her, so I wouldn't drop her. I instantly burst into tears as I tenderly stroke her fluffy curls.
'This is my baby.'
"She's beautiful, just like her Momma."
"Yeah, with your hair. I wonder if she has my eyes or yours."
We both smiled at our sleeping bundle, and I couldn't be happier. I've been through so much in the beginning, and it was tough trying to move on past the trauma at first, but with my husband by my side, I can truly say I am the happiest woman alive.
"Can we get the name for her birth certificate?"
"How about the name Hinata suggested?"
I wrinkled my nose for a second in thought.
"I'm not sure I like that fact that her name was inspired by fruit."
He laughed and kissed my forehead.
"But you were eating them often, so I'd say it's fitting."
I looked at my daughter sleeping face and finally caved.
"In my defense that's all she would let me keep down."
'Eh, why not, it IS a cute name.'
"But you have a point. So, I guess her name will be Kimi Sugawara."
The Nurse wrote down her name, and then smiled at us.
"Ok, mom and dad are you two ready for visitors?"
I looked at Koshi and we smiled at each other before answering the nurse.
"Yes we are."
