New Beginnings

Chp. 21

I woke up Saturday morning to the smell of breakfast. With a sigh I stretched, got up, and made my way downstairs.

"Suga?" I called out sleepily. He walks out of the kitchen, kisses my cheek.

Since our conversation after the game two days ago, Suga has been more affectionate towards me. It makes me happy that he's trying to move on from that night, just like I am also trying to move on.

"Good morning. You hungry? I made breakfast."

I nodded, and he grabbed my hand and led me to the kitchen table then sat a plate full of food in front of me.

"Here you go. I know its a lot, but just eat what you can."

"Thanks."

"Your welcome."

"Where's mom?"

"She went out early today to meet up with your aunt and Kiyoko."

He fixed his own plate and joined me at the table. We ate in a comfortable silence, and when we finished I took the plates to the sink and washed them. I was drying my hands, when Suga walks up and hugs me from behind.

"So I was thinking, since we never did go on that date, how bout we go somewhere this afternoon?" He said, smiling.

I turned around and hugged him.

"I'd love to." 

"Good, then I'm gonna head home real quick and grab some clothes. I'll be back soon to pick you up. Are you gonna be ok by yourself for a minute?"

"I'll be fine, but don't be too long." I said with a pout and he laughed on his way towards the door.

"I won't. I promise. Text me if you need anything."

I nodded, he walked out and as soon as I locked the door, I ran upstairs to pick out a cute outfit. After showering and getting ready, I got a text from Suga saying he was two minutes away. I checked myself in the mirror and put on some last minute lip gloss. Then I heard the front door open, and Suga called out from downstairs.

"I'm back. Are you almost ready?"

"Coming!"

I took one last look in the mirror, grabbed my purse, and walked downstairs to the front door.

"Well don't you look handsome." I said smiling as I checked out his outfit.

"Thank you, and you look beautiful as always, NaNa. Ready?"

"Yeah."

He takes my hand, and we walk out the door to the car.

"Here let me get the door."

He quickly opens the car door, and helps me in. Once I was settled, he gets in on his side and drives off.

"So where are we going?" I ask excitedly, and he just laughed.

"It's a surprise."

I pouted a little.

"Aw. Can I at least get a hint?"

"Its somewhere I want to take you."

I huff and say "That's not a hint."

He reaches over, grabs my hand and kissed the back of it.

"Just be paitent. I want this to be perfect for you. Ok?"

I blushed.

"Ok."

We talked and laughed during the whole ride. I was finally having fun after so long, and it was all thanks to Suga. We pulled into a parking lot, and he shut off the car.

"We're here." He said getting out.

He walks over to my side and helps me out, then walks over to the trunk. I looked around as I waited for him.

"What are we doing at the park?"

He closes the trunk and walks over with a basket.

"I was hoping to have a nice, quiet picnic, just the two of us."

He grabs my hand and interlocks our fingers together.

"Suga that's so sweet." I said as I kiss his cheek.

He leads the way into the park, and after walking a few minutes he stops at a tree on the top of a hill. I help spread out the blanket and we sit down. We sat there for hours eating, talking, and laughing together with no worries. It felt good to be outside with him and just have fun for once. We were laying down and cuddling together on the blanket watching the sunset, when Suga sits up all of a sudden. Concerned I sit up too.

"What's wrong?"

He turned to face me, then grabbed both my hands and looked me in the eyes.

"Natsumi, I know that right now might not be the best time to ask this, and I don't want you to think that I'm rushing you or anything. I just couldn't keep myself from asking you this any longer."

"Ok?... What is it?" I asked a little nervous, as he took a deep breath.

"Would you please go out with me?"

Shocked I just stare at him for a second.

"You don't have to answer me right now. I don't want rush or put any pressure on you." He said in a panic, and I looked at him with tears in my eyes.

"Hey...why are you crying?" He asked softly as wiped my tears.

"Are you sure you want me? I seem to always attract trouble." I said looking away from him.

He turned my face back to his and gives me a smile.

"Natsumi, you are worth all the trouble in the world."

I look at him and saw the seriousness in his eyes. I took a deep breath and wiped my face.

"Ok."

"Yes?" He asked getting up excitedly, making me laugh.

"Yes, I'll be your girlfriend."

He got up and started running around and screaming

"She said yes!"

I stand there watching him run around and laugh.

'He's acting like he proprosed.'

He runs back to me, picks me up, and spins me around. When he puts me down, he cups my face and kisses me. I pulled him closer deepening the kiss before we pulled away for air.

"I love you so much."

And I knew he meant it, I could see it in his eyes.

"I love you too, but its late and I'm getting cold." I said smiling and he laughed.

"Well, I can't have my beautiful girlfriend freezing, so let's go home."

He takes off his jacket and hands it me. I put it on and then he packed up the basket.

"Alright let's get go."

"Ok."

He led the way, and I grabbed his free hand and he kissed my cheek making me smile.

'We're finally official!'
