As I was heading to my Baking Class, I was imaging many different scenarios with Sam and I during our sleepover, testing out activities he may or may not like and shying away from the other thoughts...
I thought and kept thinking until the smell of cake tickled my nose as I entered the class. My head cleared from all of the thoughts as I set my things down and wrapped the gift that was my Mothers apron around my front side.
"Everyone! Attention, attention!" Ms. Potter clapped for everyone's attention. Slowly, heads began to turn as the excited whispers subsided.
"We must get started right away if we want to make a small cake at best, so please listen up!" She began to explain how to cook as I pushed my sleeves up and grabbed at things at my station.
I added my ingredients into a bowel, carefully smoothing over the mount of flower on my measuring spoon and dumped it in absentmindedly. I folded and mixed my batter in the glass bowel, turning on the stove to begin the cooking.
35 layers (or so) later, I had made a crepe cake, with a thin layer of frosting in between the thin pancake-y layers. I washed my hands then got one of the boxes the school provided, transferred the cake onto a clean plate and boxed my creation up. I washed and wiped down my station before leaving a few seconds after the bell.
Hopefully Tommy and Tubbo liked crepe cakes.
I opened my locker and grabbed my lunch one-handed after I stuffed my binder away,h balancing the box on one hand and carrying my bagged lunch in the other. I shut my locker with my foot and slowly turned around, scanning the hallway to make sure nobody was nearby.
Before I could begin walking, someone snatched the box out of my hands. I turned and opened my mouth to protest, but it dissolved into a shocked "o" shape as I realized it was Sam.
"Sam!" I said, my face lighting up. He glanced down at me then at the cake.
"Hey Ponk. I was heading through here when I saw you struggling. Hope you need help?" He held up the boxed-cake with one of his big hands, and it looked better-balanced then when I was holding it. He was also holding his own bagged lunch in the other hand.
"Yeah- thank you." I said. I began to walk to the rooftop with him a few steps behind me. I slowed down to walk next to him.
"Sooo.. Any plans for the totally awesome and not at all flawed sleepover?" I said, the silence getting a little suffocating.
"Mmmm. I didn't know that was part of my job description?" He teased. I scoffed and looked away, blushing.
"Hey.. Do you want the cake? I mean, i'm not a big fan of crepe cakes, so.." I rubbed my neck.
"R-really?" I looked at him again in shock. His voice had gone lighter, more child-y. As if..
"You like Crepe cakes?" I asked. He seemed to freeze and look away, letting his guard up again.
"Ahem- Thank you Ponk." He coughed into his fist. My surprise melted into admiration and.. something else.
"Friends grace, y'know?" I said, patting his shoulder. I looked forward and began up the stairs, missing the emotion-filled look Sam was giving me.
I walked over to my usual spot and sat down. Sam came with me and sat next to me. Everyone looked like they were playing a game of cards. But a little off...
"Are you guys gambling?" I asked.
"ShhSHHH!!" Tubbo shushed me. I jerked back with my hands up.
"Alright, okay! Sheesh." I rolled my eyes and opened my sandwich to eat. The match went on for a little longer before Tubbo was declared the winner.
