Chapter 23 - Slithering

I shook my head in embarrassment. Was Sam and I... A thing now? I was too tired to think anything about it and went on with my day.

I got out of my car and slammed the door shut. I needed to get more gas soon. I jogged my way over to the front and slipped inside. I needed to find Sam.

I walked around the school twice and didn't find him. Twice. I paced the entrance to the school and thought.

Is he too embarrassed to see me? No.. We were dating before the kiss- Before my memory was wiped.

Why isn't he here already? Is he on the SMP doing business?

Why didn't he tell me anything?

Maybe he's just late.

I huffed in annoyance and stormed to my locker. No texts. No nothing. Fine then. I opened my locker with a bit more force the necessary and found an envelope. I took it into my hands. The edges were laced with gold and there was a fancy wax stamp on it. Could it be Sam..?

I shook my head and opened it. Inside was a old-looking piece of folded paper. I set the envelope down on the shelf in my locker and unfolded the paper.

Dearest Ponk.

We are hosting a party for all of the new members of the Eggpire
In the SMP at 12AM sharp. We hope you can join us at the Crimson 
Ball! Please wear something formal as well.

We hope you come!

I carefully tucked the letter back into the envelope and stuff it into my pocket, shook. I didn't own anything formal on the SMP nor did I remember where the Eggpire was located. I stepped back, Feeling dizzy. What do I do? Do I attend? I've never received an invitation or anything, Not since I joined.

I sighed and shook my head. Class was around the corner. I grabbed my things and the envelope and headed into the bathroom. I stepped inside and stopped dead in my tracks. I heard someone talking. I strained my ears and stood still.

"Punz listen- You have to prevent Ponk from going to the Crimson Ball at all costs. Or just sneak me in- Yeah sneak me in!" That voice was Sam, I could tell in an instant.

A silence.

"What? 10 diamonds? No no- I dont-" He got cut off by a fit of murmuring from the phone.

"Okay fine. 5 diamonds and two stacks of iron." He sighed.

"I think its around 12. Your sneaking me in if Ponk somehow goes. If you put a finger on him-" His tone went venomous and deadly, Nothing like I had ever heard. It gave me the chills.

"Your dead. Do you hear me?"

Another silence.

"Good. See you then." He hung up. I quickly stepped out into the mob of students and hurried to another bathroom nearby. I soaked the envelope and letter and mushed it up the best I could and threw it away. After drying my hands, I ran to my first class.

I was fidgety and nervous the rest of the school day. My mind kept rounding back to the "Crimson Ball" letter. Sam was also acting really weird, Which further worried me.

"Hi Sam!" I said happily as he was approaching. He sort of jumped back and flinched at the same time.

"Oh j- Oh hi Ponk!" He stood up and hugged me briefly. I blinked at this gesture.

"Are you- Are you all right, Sam?" I said, looking up at him with a frown. He looked back down with a blank face.

"What do you mean? I'm fine!" He said. I nodded, not wanting to go any further.

"I was just worried, is all!" I said cheerfully. His face melted into a smile.

"That's all right Ponky. See you later?" I nodded and walked away. I was on my own now. I didn't want to get Tommy in danger so I didn't tell him. I gritted my teeth and went to my final class for the day.

-Rrring!-

I ran out to my car and slid in. I quickly drove out and parked into my garage and ran inside. I needed to get some stuff in the SMP.

"Hi Mom." I slumped over and acted tired.

"Hi sweety! How was school?" She looked at me and shifted over to a concerned expression.

"Just... Tired. I'm gonna go to sleep." I mumbled.

"Sure. Get some good rest honey!" I slowly went up the stares but ran to my room. I quickly changed and flopped into bed, Snuggling into the covers. Not a moment later, I fell into uneasy sleep.

I leapt off of my couch and ran out of Sam's home. Where could I find a suit? Who has one?

...Nevermind, Ill ask Tommy.

I snorted at this comment.

<DropsByPonk> No I mean location

I dug out and wore the glasses that revealed coordinates, and sprinted off to that specific place.

"Tommy?" I said, Joining the VC.

"BIG MAN!! WELCOME BACK!" He screamed back. I jumped and turned around.

"Oh shi- Oh hi Toms!" I said breathlessly.,

"Now what are you doing here- doing in my humble estate?" He barreled on. I clapped a hand over his mouth in annoyance.

"I need to borrow a suit." I said matter of factly. His eyes grew wide and he pulled back, bursting into laughter. I looked down at my feet, Embarrassed.

"A-a Suit?! Why do you need a suit?" He said between breaths.

"I'm going to a ball! I need something fancy!" I said through gritted teeth. Tommy stopped laughing and patted my back.

"Your talking to the man who has it all! Of course you can use one at the low, low price of 3 diamonds!" I nearly choked. 3 diamonds?!

I internally let out a cry as I handed over the diamonds. Tommy rushed inside and a few minutes later, rushed back outside with a clean suit.

"Thank you Toms!" I exclaimed as I took the suit from him. Tommy's grin widened.

"Good luck big man!" He waved as I ran off.

Time to get some business done.
