We got to the house, Dan was holding my hand really tightly he could tell I was nervous. ''Are you ready?'' I asked Sophie. She nodded. She hadn't seen my dad for years, she really despised him. I found my key and opened the door. ''Elizabeth!'' My dad rushed over to me. I pulled Dan in with me making him pause. I moved out of the doorway allowing Sophie to walk in. My dad's jaw dropped to the floor. ''Sophie?'' ''Hey Dad.'' He was still in shocked. ''miss me?'' she smirked. She knew this was killing him even more and she loved it. ''Sophie where have you been?'' he finally let the words fall out. ''as far away from you as I could get.'' She stated coldly. ''Dad, you need to tell mum the truth.'' She said pushing aside her previous statement. ''Elizabeth, you told Sophie?'' I nodded. ''She deserved to know, Mum deserves to know.'' I shouted. My mum walked in the room. ''What do I need to kn-'' She stopped. ''Sophie?'' Her face lit up. ''Oh darling, you're home!'' Sophie nodded. ''Not for long mum.'' She smiled hugging her. ''Mum, we need to tell you something.'' I looked at my dad, he shot me a look of disapproval. ''Girls, you don't need to do this.'' I started crying, Dan was holding my hand even tighter. ''This family has too many secrets Dad.'' Sophie shouted. ''James, what's going on?'' He sighed. ''Jane, it's nothing.'' ''Nothing are you being serious!'' I shouted. I couldn't believe him. ''Girls, tell me what is going on right now!'' ''Mum, dad's having an affair.'' She lost her temper right there, tears streaming down her face. She slapped him without hesitation. She was shouting abuse at him. ''GET THE FUCK OUT!'' I turned to Dan, he pulled me in. I buried my face in his chest. My dad left the house, well was kind of kicked out really. I pulled myself out of Dan's chest to find my mum laying on the floor Sophie hugging her. I leant down and she looked up. ''we don't need him, it just us and Jack now.'' she said wiping her tears away, she stood up and sorted herself out. ''So who's hungry?'' my mum was so strong. She was breaking inside I could tell but I think she knew that something was going on recently. We all nodded in approval at the talk of food. ''Dan will you be staying?'' she asked. ''If that's okay with you?'' he was so kind and thoughtful. ''you're always welcome here!'' my mum rushed of to the kitchen. ''Elizabeth will you go get Jack from his room?'' I nodded heading upstairs draggin Dan with me. I knocked on Jack's door and opened it, I walked in and Jack was sat in the corner crying. I rushed in, Dan following me. ''Jack, what's up?'' he looked up at me. ''why is everybody shouting?'' he frowned. I had no idea what to say, how do you tell a 6 year old that his parents aren't going to be together anymore. I looked to the ground, Dan stepped in. ''Jack, your mum and dad, they're having a little bit of time apart.'' he smiled at Jack. ''Why?'' Jack asked a tear running down his face. ''Well your Dad, he upset your mum a little bit and if he goes away for a little bit there won't be any shouting.'' Dan was great with Jack. ''will Daddy be coming back?'' Jack asked. ''He will in a little while.'' Jack nodded his head. ''Mum said food is ready Jack and we're having pizza.'' his face lit up a little, he stood up and ran out of his room. Oh he was so easily distracted from the painful truth. Dan was about to follow him when I grabbed his hand pulling him in and wrapping my arms around him. ''Thank you.'' I said letting go of him, his hand cupped my face. ''Ellie, I love you.'' I smiled shyly. ''I love you too.'' we kissed. ''ELLE!'' Sophie shouted from downstairs breaking the kiss. I grabbed Dan's hand as we walked down the stairs. I walked into the dinning room and took a seat, Dan sat next to me. As much as I was upset about my dad, I was kind of happy he wasn't going to be a big part of my life anymore. There was only one guy I was focusing on for now and that was the guy sat here next to me, the guy that loved me. Daniel David Flint.
