Dan Flint story

Chapter 4'

A few weeks passed and I was comfortable in this group of friends, me and Dan got a lot closer, he was honestly my best friend. He hadn't mentioned the kiss since it happened, so I assumed he just wanted to be friends. Which although I wasn't 100% sure that's what I wanted too, I was happy with us just being friends. I also got very close with Josh and Max, Chris didn't really talk much but he always gave me his crisps. Matt was awesome, I just hadn't talked to him as much as Josh and Max and of course Dan.

I'd spent the last week at Dan's because his mum was still away; we'd planned to have a party on Saturday night. I was kind of nervous; I didn't really know anyone at all. I was currently sat in English next to Josh moaning about some girl he liked. ''Ellie, are you even listening to me?'' I nodded my head thinking about Dan. ''ELLIE.'' ''What Josh?'' ''Stop thinking about Daniel and listen to me.'' How the hell did he know? I placed my full attention on him. ''Okay Joshua, you have my full attention.'' ''I asked Abigail to come to Dan's party and she said yes.'' There was a great big smile plastered on his face. ''Aww Josh, I'm happy for you!'' 'Thanks Ellie.'' I was actually happy for him; he'd been in love with her for the past year and had finally got the balls to ask her out. ''So what's going on between you and Dan?'' Josh asked and I didn't really know how to reply. ''I think we're just friends.'' I frowned. ''Do you want more?'' I just nodded. ''Dan wants more too.'' He smiled. ''How do you know though Josh?'' ''Ellie, he talks about you all the time.'' I just shrugged. ''You've been staying at his right?'' I nodded. ''He doesn't let anyone stay with him.'' I was confused. ''How come?'' I asked. Josh sighed. ''Dan's been hurt before, he doesn't trust anyone at all.'' I frowned. ''But he trusts you Elle.'' a smile appeared on my face again. The final bell rang and I put my books in my bag and started heading out, when I was stopped. ''Hey Ellie, you going to Dan's on tomorrow?'' it was Jonny. I sat next to him in art, we'd started talking and were quite good friends I guess you could say. I'd been here for a few weeks and had pretty much learnt a lot about the people here, Jonny was a popular kid. He had a lot of friends and a lot of girls wanted him especially Kelsey. Kelsey was also in my art class, we'd spoken once. She was nice to me and I was nice to her but a lot of people knew how she felt about Jonny and everyone knew to stay way clear of messing with their weird relationship. ''Yes I am.'' He smiled. ''Awesome, I'll see you there.'' I walked over to Josh. Okay, so a popular guy wanted to be my friend, there's a first for everything I suppose. I got to form and saw Dan talking to Holly, Matt's girlfriend. He looked up and our eyes locked, he smiled at me. I grabbed my hoodie and went to stand next to Josh. He put his arm round my shoulder. ''Thanks Elle.'' I smiled confused. ''What are you thanking me for?'' ''If I hadn't of become friends with you, I'd still be shit scared of talking to girls.'' I laughed at him. ''Yeah turns out we're human too Josh.'' I winked at him and he laughed. Dan joined us. ''Hey.'' I smiled at him. ''Alright Danny boy.'' Josh was really happy about Abi and he deserved it. ''What you so happy about Franceschi?'' ''Well my dear friend, I have a date for Saturday!'' Dan smiled for him. ''Who's the lucky guy?'' Dan winked and I laughed. ''Not funny Dan, at least I can get a girl.'' Dan frowned. I felt his pain. ''Sorry mate, that wasn't fair.'' ''Aye it's fine.'' Dan perked up. ''Think I might have found a girl anyway.'' He winked and my heart sunk. ''Anyone I know?'' Josh asked. ''I don't think so.'' My heart sunk even further. ''Nice.'' Josh smirked. ''I gotta go home now, Ellie you coming?'' He asked. ''Erm, think I'm gonna go back to mine.'' Dan looked shocked. ''Oh alright, I'll see you tomorrow then.'' I nodded holding back my tears. Dan walked off and Josh looked at me. ''You okay?'' I nodded. ''I'm going home, see you tomorrow.'' I walked out and went home to my empty house, well I'd thought it was empty. I opened the door and there was my dad's work bag. ''Dad?'' I shouted. He ran down stairs. ''Elizabeth? What are you doing home? I thought you were going to your friends again.'' I sighed thinking about Dan again. ''I changed my mind.'' Just as I said that a women shouted. ''James hurry up, I'm waiting.'' Tears filled my eyes, this is what he'd been up to. Another women. ''Elizabeth wait!'' Tears were streaming down my face. I turned away to walk out. ''Elizabeth please.'' I turned around and he was stood behind me. ''No Dad.'' ''Elizabeth.'' ''No, I hate you.'' I felt his heartbreak. I ran out the door. What was I going to do? My dad, Oh god. I knew he'd been up to something. I felt my phone vibrating it was Dan. I wiped the tears from my eyes. I answered the phone. ''Ellie have I done something wrong?'' more tears escaped. ''No.'' ''Are you crying? What's wrong? Ellie have a done something?'' ''Dan It's not you.'' ''What is it then?'' I took a deep breath. ''My dad, he's having an affair.'' ''Oh Ellie.'' I heard the sympathy in his voice. I heard a girl talking in the background, I bet that was the girl he liked. ''Ellie come round to mine?'' ''No, you're with someone.'' ''But Ellie that doesn't matter.'' ''No I don't want to get in the way of you and your new girlfriend.'' More tears streamed down my face. ''What?'' ''You told Josh you'd found a new girl. I hope you're happy with her Dan.'' ''Ellie, no, you've got it wrong.'' ''No Dan, It's fine. We're just friends, that kiss, it didn't mean anything.'' ''Ellie wait..'' ''Don't worry Dan, your secrets safe with me.'' I hung up the phone. I regretted it all, I liked Dan a lot and he has a girlfriend. How could he do that? He kissed me, he let me sleep in his bed, he held me when was having a bad dream, he told me everything and he listened to my problems. More and more tears were coming out, I needed to find somewhere to go, I remembered the den Dan showed me, he used to go there when his dad died, to clear his head and I needed to clear my head a lot at the moment.
