Chapter 11'

Ellie’s POV

We sat in silence. ‘’So how long have you two been together?’’ Dan’s mum asked. ‘’Just over 3 months.’’ Dan snapped back. Why was he being like this? I’d never seen him this tense before. ‘’That’s nice.’’ She replied. Dan said nothing. Our fingers were still interlocked and his grip was tightening. I leant into his chest; his heart was racing really quickly. ‘’Dan are you okay?’’ I whispered quietly so his mum wouldn’t hear me, he nodded. ‘’Don’t worry about me.’’ I forced a smile. I wanted to run away with him right now but we couldn’t we had to sit through this meal. ‘’It’ll be okay Dan, I’m here.’’ I whispered. ‘’thank you.’’ He kissed my forehead. The car came to a stop. Dan let go of my hand and got out the car, he walked round and opened my door and helped me out. We followed behind his mother as we walked into the restaurant, I felt under dressed. This place was massive and way too posh; I felt 100% out of place. I clenched onto Dan’s hand and he kept me close by his side. He stopped. ''Ellie, I'm going to do something now that I need you to understand and know I wouldn't be able to do this without you, you make me a better person and I love you.'' What was he going to do? I just nodded my head. ''Okay, I love you.'' We were lead to a table and we took our seats. ‘’Daniel, you could’ve changed from those jeans into some real trousers.’’ She looked down her nose at him. ‘’I prefer these.’’ She shook her head and glanced at the menu. ‘’How have you been then?’’ She asked. ‘’Just great actually, finally getting used to not having a mother.’’ He spat at her. Oh no this is what he meant. ‘’Daniel, don’t say that.’’ She looked hurt. ‘’Why? It’s the truth.’’ He looked her dead in the eye. ‘’You know I’m very busy.’’ She was trying to convince herself she was a good mum at this point. ‘’Too busy for a phone call or a text? I waited every night for one message just for you to tell me you loved me and that you missed me.’’ His eyes started to fill with tears, I grabbed his hand. ‘’Well the phone works both ways son.’’ He looked disgusted. ‘’Are you being fucking serious?’’ He stood up. ‘’Daniel don’t use that language and sit down.’’ She looked up at him. ‘’No, I phoned you every night for the first month and every time It just went straight to answer phone so don’t give me that shit.’’ He was hurting so badly, why hadn’t he talked to me about this? He’d mentioned his mum not making an effort but he never mentioned it being this bad between them. ‘’Daniel, sit down.’’ She looked around at the people noticing what was going on. ‘’Come on Ellie, we’re leaving.’’ I stood up. ‘’This is her fault, she’s a bad influence on you Daniel.’’ Hold the fuck up she did not just say that to him. ‘’How dare you.’’ Dan shouted across the table. I couldn’t help the words that were starting to fall out of my mouth. ‘’I’m sorry but you don’t even know me.’’ She rolled her eyes at me. ‘’I may not be perfect, I may not dress the way you want me too, I don’t talk formally but I’ve been there for you son and you haven’t.’’ Holy fuck, why was I saying this? ‘’I can’t believe you mum’’ Dan stepped in. ‘’you’re a joke, you may be pretend what you’re doing is helping me but all I need is your love and you seem unable to give me that.’’ He had tears rolling down his cheeks as he said it. ‘’Daniel, please.’’ He shook his head, took my hand and started walking out the restaurant. As soon as we got outside his lips collided with mine. ‘’I’m so so sorry.’’ He said into my lips. I kissed him back. ‘’No, you do not need to apologize.’’ I said breaking the kiss. ‘’Ellie, I love you so much. I couldn’t have stood up to her without you here with me.’’ He said pulling me into a hug.  ‘’I love you too.’’ He kissed me again. ''Shall we go?'' He said. I nodded my head. ''Can we go back to yours?'' He nervously asked. ''Of course.'' I said making him know he was always welcome at mine.''Do you mind if I stay there until she goes away again?'' I nodded my head before he even finished his sentence. ''Yes, of course, you know you're always gonna have a home with me Dan, I promise you I'm not going anywhere.'' he pulled me in for a hug, his hugs were always the best. ''Thank you Ellie, you have no idea how much that means. I honestly don't know where I would be without you anymore. I love you so much and I'm just scared you don't know that.'' I put my finger over his lip to shut him up. ''Dan, I know don't worry. I know.'' I whispered before his lips were crashing with mine again. He took my hand and we started walking back to mine.
