we feel the same (peter parker story)

chapter 18

Daphne felt her body fall back on the floor in pain. A while later she felt herself get pushed up into a rolling bed and pushed outside into the rain and into an ambulance. red and blue lights flash all around her as she blinked slowly. 

She woke up in a white room on a hospital bed. Her hand flew to her head after getting knocked out just a few times. Her mother, father, and older brother George sat around the bed. "well good morning Daphne!" George says while walking over to her. "What even happened?" She asks. "A huge lizard guy tried to kill our city, and spiderman saved us," George admits. "So do you now understand how spiderman is good for our city?" Daphne says with a scratchy voice.

 " suppose," George says with a crooked smile. 

"good." She replies. 

 "I'm so thankful your alright." Her mother says while walking over to her bed. "Only one broken bone."  Daphne's Father says. "And what's that?" 

"Just your arm." He says. 

"You're going to have to wear a cast for a month or two." He says.

"oh alright," Daphne says with a sigh.

after getting the arm cast and a few stitches above her eyebrow she was free to leave the hospital. 

Daphne laying out on her bed looking up at the ceiling. She hadn't heard from Peter since the lab but she wanted to give him and herself some time to rest. 

Reading Harry Potter was the only thing Daphne wanted to do. Her sister read it to her while she layout on her bed holding her arm and resting. Music would play in her ears as she rested on her bed. Her mother walked into her room with a tray of soup and tea. Mrs, May sat down on Daphne's bed and helped her sit up. "less sore?" She asks. 

Daphne nods while taking the tray of food. 

"Daphne, I need to tell you something.." Her mother says while reaching for her hand. Daphne looks up to her mother with a worried look. "You're friend Stacy has died."

Daphne's heart drops to the floor. She can't think of words to say, not even thoughts to think. "I'm so sorry.."

'What when...." Daphne ask. Her mind races quickly thinking of all the times she had seen Stacy in class. "was I even a good friend.." Daphne thought while her eye started watering. "just this morning. She had been in a car driving away from school after the attack and she was crushed by the monster while it was walking to oscorp..." She says. Daphne didn't say anything her mother left the room quietly giving Daphne more think to swallow what just happened. 

Thinking of the Plans she had made with Stacy made her feel sick.

*The funeral*

Daphne put on a long black dress and a coat to cover her cast. She grabbed her umbrella and went to Stacy's funeral with her sister and mother. Rain poured onto the streets making large muddy puddles in the graveyard. More than half of the school showed up to the shared funeral for 4 other students. Daphne hid her face in her mother's shoulder while she notice Stacy's parents sobbing.

Peter wasn't there. 

Daphne walked home alone in the rain. She held her umbrella over her body keeping her dry and mostly warm. She walked down her street until she stood in front of Peters's house. She thought of just running away back to her bed to escape from her problems, but she knew she was stronger than that. 

She walked up the stairs and knocked on the door. Daphne stood on the porch for a moment until Peter opened the door. Daphne stood with dry tears down her face. "hey.." Peter says.

"Why didn't you go?" Daphne asks. 

"Daphne I couldn't." 

"why?" Daphne asks while starting to cry again.

"I couldn't because I knew that I could have saved them all if I just had more time. I wish I could go back and not have been bitten by that spider so I wouldn't feel responsible for all of this." Peter says while tears roll down his face. 

"I wish I had never met you, and- and made you sneak into oscorp to find information to help Dr. Curtis Connors. I WISH I NEVER HAD! It's all my fault and I wish I could go back and had never helped him." Peter yells. Daphne pulls her arms around him. "Peter you cant go back in time. You cant change the past." Daphne whispers. "but-but I saw so many people die.." Peter says while choking on tears. Daphne holds him while he cries into her head. 

It had been a month. Nothing. no spiderman. no, Peter Parker.
