Everyone is sitting, waiting anxiously. One by one someone is called about every 15 minutes. Right now it's just me and 2 Dauntless born left. Four walked out and looked at me, "Sophia." He motioned for me to enter the room. When I walked in I saw a chair that looked like the aptitude test chair. There was a desk to the side with a computer where Four was setting up a syringe with a weird orange liquid inside.
"Go ahead and sit down," he said, not looking at me. I sat down on the cold metal chair, Four pushed my head to the side and moved my hair. "Ready?" 'No.' I thought to myself but I just nodded knowing I couldn't get out of this. He inserted the syringe and I flinched at the sting. He pulled the needle out and said, "You are going to be facing your worst fears, in about 60 seconds it will start. You need to either slow your heartbeat or overcome your fear. Good luck." He gave me a smile and in the blink of an eye he was gone and so was the room. I wasn't even standing up. I was laying on a table, I think, and when I tried to get up, cold metal pressed against my arms and ankles.
"HELP!" I yelled. I was starting to panic. And I thought that my fear was being trapped but then I felt something smooth slither on my leg. The sound of hissing filled my ears as more snakes covered my body. "HELP! SOMEBODY PLEASE! HELP!" I screamed at the top of my lungs. I have been scared of snakes ever since I stepped on one in the Amity fields and it nearly bit me. Shivers shattered through my body as a snake found its way to my neck and head. I'm Dauntless I can't just lay here and let my fears take over me! I thought to myself. So just as a snake went under my arms and legs I squished them which made them hiss louder in anger but they couldn't move. I was still laying there so I guess I had to do more. A snake started to slither over my face, right when it was over my mouth I opened my mouth and bit the snake. The blood ran down my mouth and lips as I gagged in disgust.
I blinked and when I opened my eyes, I was back in the fear simulation room. I rubbed my skin checking to make sure there weren't any snakes on me. I then rubbed my hand around my mouth to get the blood off but nothing was there. I sighed in relief but I was still really shaken up.
"Nice job," Four said, "You finished that in 12 minutes and 42 seconds. It will get easier the more you do it."
"I have to do that again?" I never want to do that again.
"Well ya. But you are more likely to get a different fear next time." I sighed at his comment. "Eric is outside of that door there," he pointed to the door in the back, "he will walk you back."
I walked out the door and as soon as Eric saw me he engulfed me into a hug.
"Hey," he said, "I've been standing here all morning waiting for you to come out," I smiled at what he said. He really is sweet once you get to know him.
"I'm so glad to see you. That was horrible." I pointed to the door that led to the room I was just in.
"Can I ask what your fear was?"
"Snakes," I shivered again remembering what I just went through.
"Well," he stretched the word out, directing my hands to his neck then put his on my hips, "You can come back to my place and hang out there if you'd like. There are only 2 initiates left so I could be back in about 45 minutes." He smirked.
"You know what. That sounds amazing." I could really use the peace and quiet until he gets back.
"Ya?"
"Ya." I said as we smiled and he walked me to his place. He took out a pair of keys and opened the door for me. I walked in and was quite shocked. It was nice and neat and there were books everywhere. "Nice place."
