**SOPHIA'S POV**

As the days go by, the more nervous I'm getting. After Eric told me that Jeanine has a terrible plan, I've been super paranoid about everything.

I've been keeping a close eye on everyone I believe to be Divergent. I can't imagine waking up one day and seeing them all dead.

To make my paranoia worse, Erudite scientists have been showing up everywhere in our faction. I've caught them unloading big packages of equiptment down in the lower level of Dauntless.

"Stop thinking about it," I hear Eric's deep voice from behind me.

He's been telling me this nonstop for the past couple days. He says he can tell when I'm thinking about it because I curl my fingers together and my eyes scrunch up.

"I can't," I sigh releasing my fingers. I turn to face him and he looks at me with sympathy in his eyes.

He moves his hands to my shoulders and rubs up and down my arms soothingly. While doing this he kisses my forehead and I can't help but just melt into his touch.

"When will you tell me what's going on?" I ask. "This fear of what will happen to these innocent people is killing me."

He sighs deeply. "I don't think I can tell you yet."

"You don't think?" I ask. "What's holding you back?"

"I'm afraid of what you will do once you find out," he shrugs nervously.

"What's that supposed to mean?" I ask almost infuriated.

"You just seem so passionate about this all that I'm not sure how you'll react. I don't want you to go off on your own trying to stop her plans. I'm afraid to lose you to a stronger battle," he grabs my hands trying to make the situation not as bad. To be honest, it's kind of working.

"Eric, I love you and I know you just want to protect me, but how am I supposed to stay safe from something I don't even know about? And I'm gonna find out eventually, so either you can be the one to tell me or someone else can," I tell him seriously.

He sighs, "Come here." He waves me over to the couch. "You need to promise me that you will stay chill about it all until the time comes. And you can't tell anyone. Okay?"

I look into his grey eyes that bore into mine. I begin to get that worried feeling in my stomach again. My throat is dry and I try my best to swallow as I nod my head slowly.

As I'm nodding I realize what I'm doing. I'm promising to go against everything I've been wanting to do. I've wanted to spread the word to Divergents. I've been wanting to somehow put a stop to this madness.

"Okay?" He asks again. This time he leans closer to really look into my eyes and make sure I know what I'm doing.

I nod more confidently this time. Somehow I'm gonna have to find a way to work around this promise.

He sits back and sighs again. I watch him carefully as he runs a hand through his hair.

"She's got a big plan. Like a big one," he starts. "Research has been done and the data shows that Divergents have been hidden very secretly in Abnegation. It's their safe place. But to make it worse, Abnegation and Erudite are having difficulties getting along."

I widen my eyes while I put the pieces together. "So they are not only targeting Divergents, but also Abnegation," I gasp.

He nods with a hum. "All that equiptment you've been seeing is used to put all of Dauntless under a simulation and monitor them as they..." he paused and I look at him confused. "...destroy Abnegation and any Divergents that are found."
