**ERIC'S POV**
Her voice is soft and silky. I could listen to it all day. She has no clue that I put myself in this as a suicide mission. I know the only way out is death for one of us. That's just how it goes. For as much as I'd like that to be Four, I wouldn't be able to look at Sophia and wake up everyday happy knowing I lied to her.
Sure, maybe my way out is weak, but I won't let any of these men go down. They don't know what they got themselves into and I am their leader. I would be a shitty leader if I came out alive with one or more less men than I went in with.
I have to stay focused though. I have to at least finish the mission before I go down and trust me, I won't go down without a fight.
The past 45 minutes I had continued to ask her for updates just to hear her voice and I think she and everyone else knew it but I don't care.
"Eric," her voice filled the room. "She's pulling in. Lauren left Max about 5 minutes ago, but he is meeting Jeanine at the front door. You'll get em both at the same time. Lauren is coming down first though so you'll have her too."
"Great, thanks Soph," I sigh placing the walkie talkie back on my belt.
"Alright boys, it's time. We invade, take down the scientists, and set up for Jeanine and Max. I want one on each side of the door, one at each 45° angle and then I'll be straight on. Stay hidden for the surprise murder but stick to the plan. Got it?" I instruct quickly. They all nod. "Okay, follow me." As I'm undoing the lock I hear a faint "Goodluck" through the walkie talkie.
I press the button down, while it's still on my hip. "Thanks Sophia. I love you."
"I love you too," she responds almost immediately.
I sigh, "Let's go." I swing the door open and walk out normally just incase someone was there, but there isn't. The hallway is deserted so we continue down just a little further until I see the Dauntless guards standing outside the access door.
"Sh," I whisper putting a finger over my lips. It's easy to hide in these hallways because they are so dark and have little divets in the walls to keep you hidden.
I hold my gun up and peer around the corner. Counting to 3 in my head, I fire once my aim is centered. I hit the first three guards down but miss the fourth so I fire until he's down.
"Let's go," I order again. I shoot the lock off of the big door and shove it open. All five of us charge in with our guns up. There's no one in sight at first but once we turned the corner, we were met with 25+ Erudites in white lab coats.
"Nobody move!" I scream.
"Uh, Eric. You might wanna hurry. Jeanine and Max are on their last set of stairs right down the hall," Sophia's voice cuts through the silence.
With that, panic rushes through me so I fire. In return an Erudite falls and the other four men around me fired their guns too. One by one the lab coats were falling in defeat. I couldn't help but suddenly realize that Sophia is watching this. She now knows I'm a murderer. How could I ever live with her loving me, a killer.
"Eric! Eric!" Her nervous voice said. "Max and Jeanine stopped. They heard the gun shots and he just called down more Dauntless guards! You guys need to get out! It's not worth it!"
"Yes it is! We've come too far to give up now!" I yell back.
From the corner of my eye I see movement at the entrance door so I swing my hands over and pull the trigger. It's not until my eyes focus on the person that I realize how lucky I was I missed.
