I wondered if Gotham ever had a day without rain. Today was Monday and the night was about to fall. And Gotham's weather seemed not wanting to depart from its constancy.

I walked under the pouring rain, protected by the hood of my cape. My feet splashing water and mud at each step as I made my way to the wood factory entrance. A lower rank member opened the door for me and started talking about the strategy for the fight to come.

After the call with Talia and Sensei, Talia had ordered every members in Gotham and its vicinity to go to the Lazarus pit in order to protect it at all cost. They all came within two hours. Every rank was here except for the Rank A.

I follow the lower rank around the different parts of the factory that had been transformed into a big military base. Most of the members were here. I even spotted B21 loading a machine-gun. Then we reached the elevator that was going down, in the depths of the Earth. There were three levels under the ground. The first one was use as a big depot for weapons as well as a small prison with ten cells. The second one was a big laboratory but with the death of their only Rank S member, the Gotham members couldn't really use it to its full potential. There were ten cells here too, but the people who had been locked inside had had a worse fate than the ones in the first level.

The last level that the elevator reached is small room build in a rock shelter. One of the walls was made of glass, overlooking a big cave. I walked to the window, looking down to see the Lazarus pit. No need for any artificial light here. The green waters of the pit were glowing, creating gloomy shadows on the black rocks of the cave.

There were only two things in this room other than the elevator's door. A vent in the ceiling leading to the ventilation system and a hatch in the floor of the small room that led to a ladder to finally step on the cave ground. The air was cold and damp as I stepped away from the ladder, the lower rank following after me. I looked around in silence. I walked around the Lazarus pit, gazing at the phosphorescent water. It had been a long time since I had been near one of the pits. Just by watching it, I could feel the power coming from it. Eternal regeneration, eternal life. So many people had been tempted. But, the rules of the League were clear. If you are not an Al Ghul you do not use Lazarus power. Only a few people had been selected to analyse the waters. Non authorized members who did put a finger in the regenerating water had been executed by Talia herself, or me when she was busy with something else.

However, this cave had a big weakness. The rocks were friable. With the activity above, on different floors, the cave was unstable on its own. Titanium pillars had been placed all around the pit in order to prevent the cave to collapse. It had been enough at the time as the League needed this pit to make experiment. However, with the Bat family threat that the League was facing at Gotham, the pillars had become the weaknesses of the organisation.

The lower rank was following my every step, bowing each time my eyes landed on him. He was talking about the plan. When he finally shut up, his eyes glanced at me every two seconds, waiting for my approval.

The plan they came up with was good. They are around thirty members here. I knew that the Bat family didn't kill their enemies if they can prevent it. But I also knew that their plan was to blow up the place. Not everyone can survive to an explosion, even more when the explosion happens under ground. No chance to escape. Talia knew that too but still ordered them to come. Did they know that they were led to their more than certain death?

"It's a good plan. Batman and his little friends must not come down here. You have to stop them at any cost." I said, my voice void of any emotions. "I will stay here in case one of them arrives down here."

He nodded before leaving. Now I was alone in the cave. Greenish shadows moving around me.

I took out my phone from one of the pocket. There was no signal here. However I was connected to the security cameras that were in the place. I watched the members walking around, following directives. I felt almost sad. They were maybe living their last hours. How many rank A members were waiting for their family to come back? How many rank A will never see them again?
