The subway station was packed. People were swarming around me, as I made my way out of the subway entrance. A few steps and I was finally able to breathe without elbows blowing my stomach or shoulders knocking against mine.

It was the end of the day and people were going back home. But I wasn't. I had a date with Kate. She had called me in the morning, asking if I was free for the evening. I gladly accepted her offer to join her in a bar, where she was performing as a guitarist.

When I finally reached the bar, I relaxed my shoulders before pushing the front door. I was welcome by the heat and the noise of the room as well as the smell of beer and greasy food. It was full. I was walking around trying to find an empty table when I spotted Kate. She was on the scene, that had been placed in the corner facing the bar counter. I licked my lower lip as I walked to her, taking to few seconds to check her out. She was wearing black pants and a grey shirt as well as black boots and a brown leather jacket. She had tied her hair in a messy bun. Her guitar was strapped around her shoulder, laying on her tights as she was sat on a stool. When her eyes found mine, she smiled at me as I zigzagged between the tables.

When I finally reached her, she leaned toward me and wrapped an arm around my waist, pulling me toward her carefully because of the guitar between us. She kissed my cheek.

"Hi."

"Hey."

"Purple wig tonight?" she asked twirling a strand of the wig I was wearing around her fingers.

"I wanted to ... to try something a bit more daring. You don't like it?" I said, looking insecure.

She shook her head with a smile, her hand letting go of the strand to brush the side of my neck.

"Any colour suits you Y/n. You could also be bald that you'd be still as beautiful for that matter." she answered.

I blushed. I saw her greeting a waiter that was coming our way. He was holding a small table and a chair. He smiled at us as he set the table just in front of Kate's stool. He asked for my order then left us.

"I asked him to set the table for you here. I hope you don't mind." Kate explained.

I smiled. "That's really thoughtful of you." I whispered.

We leaned into each other. I could smell her perfume, feel her warmth. Our lips were brushing when the others musicians arrived on the scene. The show was about to begin.

Kate sighed, straightening on her seat but before I could turned to my table, she leaned again and pecked my lips lightly.

"I wouldn't have been able to focus for the show if I would not have done that." she chuckled at my startled expression. "I hope you'll enjoy the show." she added.

I recovered from my shock of her teasing.

"With you in it, I'm sure I will." I said back with a wink.

She laughed as I sat down. The waiter arrived with my drink but I couldn't leave Kate's face. She bit her lower lip to stop her laugh, shaking her head lightly. Lowering her face, she played a few notes, looked up to lock her gaze with mine and then the show started.

Two hours later, she was sitting at the other side of the table, a drink in one hand, the other holding mine. We were talking, laughing and flirting around our glasses and a plate of French fries and onion rings.

A silence between two conversations. I smiled at her, brushing my thumb on the skin of her hand.

"I wish we could do this every evening." I finally said, watching her munching on a French fry.
