A/n: entire story is told through third person point of view"Uh, I hate the wilderness."
"Then why would you agree to come?"
"Because I didn't want to sit at home bored." Imani shrugged, looking down at her heavy rain boots that helped her better with walking through the loud, crunchy rainforest.
Field trips were always fun. But for some reason, the ones in college were boring and pointless as hell. They had no particular reason to be walking through the forest right now. But their professor was a plump man who owned binoculars and wanted to show them off. So he gathered his class and randomly decided that they would take a nice and relaxing trip through the rainforest.
Imani had never been a fan of outside. Yes, Ontario was a beautiful city but the more forest-y parts...not so much.
The dewy atmosphere just made things all the more horrible for her. The occasional scavenging she would hear through the trees signifying that animals were near just made her heart hurt with worry. She was filled with anxiety at the moment, and all of the sticks on the ground made things no better.
"I think if you actually look around you'll see that it's not all that bad. It's actually very peaceful."
"Lenzie, lying isn't okay." Imani grumbled, taking her hand and placing it on Lenzie's shoulder so that she had someone to hold on to.
But she knew that Lenzie wasn't lying. She enjoyed things like this. The 5'2 girl was nothing short of a Girl Scout. Literally. She was a Girl Scout at one point in time.
She liked adventurous things like this. She had even went as far as to put her ginger colored hair up into two pigtails, she was dressed like an Australian tour guide with her overalls and backpack.
Her big, round glasses covering most of her face, cute little freckles standing out even in the gloomy weather with a sky that seemed to lack the sun's presence.
And there was Imani. Dressed in a poncho, rain boots and "OFF" fly repellent sprayed all around her body.
"Oh god, is that a tree stomp they're walking towards? It's littered with fungi." Imani smacked her lips as she complained for the umpteenth time.
"I'm sure it's not harmful. Professor doesn't seem to be bothered by it. Let's go check it out." Lenzie says, trying to pull Imani along but the girl quickly denies.
"Nah, I'm good. I'll just hang out here while you guys...explore." She said.
"You sure?" Lenzie asked, raising a questioning eyebrow.
"Yup." Imani nods, taking a couple of steps back once she noticed a mini swarm of flies making their debut in their space.
"Okay...I'll be right back then." Lenzie says before excitedly skipping off towards their professor and fellow group of college students.
Imani took one simple look around. She just couldn't get with this.
It wasn't in her intention to be a Debby downer, but she didn't like what she didn't like. And this is something she hated.
A lake would be a tad bit better. They couldn't really walk through the water like they could walk through the forest. Plus she wouldn't feel as confined and constricted as she did at the moment, being surrounded by so many trees.
The girl makes friends with a tall, skinny tree. She felt small standing against the tree that seemed to touch the sky.
Her phone had no service in these parts so she couldn't really keep herself occupied.
All she could do was toy with her fingernails that had just recently been cut down a bit after a much needed manicure.
The class seemed to become oddly infatuated by the tree stomp and fungi. All of them taking pictures, occasionally making sounds of "oh's" and "ah's".
Imani cringed once her professor looked up and waved her over, calling her name and asking if she wanted to take a look.
"No thank you!" Imani shook her head, saying it loud and clear so that he and anybody else could get the memo that she didn't want to participate.
Luckily, this wasn't for a grade. The more she thought about it, the more she realized that she should've stayed her ass home.
A couple of minutes drag by. It was becoming tiring. Imani had nothing here, especially since she was alone. So she decided to suck it up and follow behind her class.
But shockingly, when she looked over at the tree stomp they were already leaving without her.
Imani instantly stands straight from the tree and starts to follow behind them, speed walking to catch up with her class.
"Hey!" She shouts, moving around the tree stomp. They were nearing a small hill that had literally appeared out of nowhere. Imani sighed deeply, picking up the pace just a tad bit.
"Lenzie!" She called out to her friend. But Lenzie couldn't hear, because she was too busy giggling with a guy who was showing her something in his notebook.
Imani decided to run. For some reason, they were walking fast as hell and no matter how hard she tried, she just couldn't catch up.
This was a little off to her...
Just as she set foot on the hill, a powerful force came knocking into her out of nowhere. It was then she heard the leaves rumble in the trees, and the sound of foot steps nearing her.
It sounded like a herd of animals. It was terrifying, to say the least.
Imani ended up slipping but it wasn't anything too harsh. It didn't actually turn bad until the same person that knocked into her, fell over her and completely crushed her body.
The last sound coming from her being a soft "Umph" equivalent to a whimper.
And the last she could hear was a distant giggle from her classmate, as the color black took over her completely and pulled her into a state of insensibility.
End of chapter one.

A/n: NEW STORY ALERTOkay so I've honestly been wanting to write a werewolf book for the longest and finally I'm going through with it. Hopefully I can get through this lol.
I just want y'all to know that updates don't start for this book quite yet. Yes, this is chapter one but I want to write a few chapters first before I begin publishing more. That way I'm motivated to write more and go through less trouble with writers block.
So let's think of this as a preview.
I hope you're all excited for "IMANI" just as much as I am
Excuse any mistakes <3.
