Imani couldn't believe what Lenzie had told her. Things were already creepy, but after hearing that things had become even more weird for her.

Imani drove back to her grandmothers house with a lot on her mind.

The sun was beginning to set. Many cars had began clearing the road. Imani had a lot of opened space to drive but obviously it wasn't enough to free her mind.

Trying to flee away from her thoughts didn't help. For there was so much to question and think about, she couldn't function. She was sure she could do better after a much needed meal and some rest.

Once she got home, her uncle Mo helped her bring in her things from the dorm. Her grandmother had made beef stew and baked some buttered rolls for dinner followed by her infamous fruit drink to go along with.

They sat down at the table and had dinner as a little family. Imani talked, but not much. She was certain that they knew something was wrong with her and she was choosing to remain silent.

After dinner, Imani went up to her room. She showered, got dressed in clothes for bed and then laid down. In the process of her putting on Netflix, there was a small knock at her door.

"Come in." She says, looking over to catch her grandmother entering.

"Mani? Is now a good time to talk?" Her grandmother questioned.

Imani nodded and placed down her remote. "Of course, grams. What's wrong?" Imani asked.

Her grandmother sighed wearily and sat down at the edge of the bed. Imani looked at the elder with confusion and concern. Awaiting an answer.

The grandmother pulled her cardigan over her chest tightly to protect herself from the cool breeze in the room.

"Imani I just want to apologize. I know these past few days have been pure hell for you. I feel like as your guardian, I've failed you. And for that I'm sorry."

"You didn't fail me." Imani denies. "You tried, grams. A lot of people didn't. That means everything to me right there."

"Yes but... it's certain things you don't understand, Mani. Certain things that await us in the shadows. When it comes time to approach those problems I'll be the one to blame. But it's best that you be left in the dark."

Imani was lost. It seemed as if once she thought she had something figured out, there was another thing proving her wrong. Imani just wanted to be right about something for once.

Imani pulls her legs up. Her chin rests on her knees that were tucked under her head. She stared down at the comforter and tried to avoid looking at her grandmother. There was an eerie air taking over that she couldn't handle.

"Imani we love you. Very very much." Her grandmother said. Imani could hear that she was on the brink of tears.

"I l-love you too but grams-"
