It felt good to wake up in her bed, inside of her old bedroom at her grandmother's house.

Imani had only been gone for two-three days, but it seemed as if years had passed since she last slept in the comfortable bed. It was then she remembered university, and how she had classes and work piled up from being gone.

Imani groaned and stretched her limbs as she stood up from the bed. She slid her feet into her house slippers and scratched her arm as she exited the room. The fresh smell of breakfast cooking up downstairs brought her a sense of nostalgia. Her grandmother always cooked big breakfasts in the morning.

The girl walks down to the kitchen. She stood in the entryway as she watched the woman work by the stove. The news being broadcasted on the small tv she had perched up on the spacious counter in the kitchen, aside from the dirty bowls of pancake mix and ingredients.

"Morning." Imani makes her presence known.

Her grandmother stopped what she was doing and turned her head. She seen Imani there, a smile adorns her features.

"Good morning lady bug. Come sit, I'm making breakfast." The woman states.

Imani wasted no time in sitting down at the dining table. She tapped her fingers against the table's surface. At the time she would usually be on her phone, however her phone was broken. Speaking of phone...

A few minutes later, her grandmother is sitting a plate down before her. Bacon, pancakes, eggs, toast, hash browns and a bowl of fruit.

"Thank you grandma." Imani says.

"Anything for my baby." Her grandmother says, bending down and kissing Imani's forehead.

As Imani ate, the woman whipped herself up a mug of coffee before sitting in front of her granddaughter. She watched her as she drank from her cup. She was just so happy to see her here. Alive and okay.

"Where's uncle Mo?" Imani asked curiously.

"He had an early day at work. Left about two hours before you woke up." Her grandmother said.

"Oh." Imani replies. She was looking forward to eating breakfast with him but that wouldn't happen today, apparently.

"What are your plans for today?"

"Well I was just sitting here thinking that I need to go out and get a new phone since my old one broke." Imani sighed. "After that I should call the school and get to catching up on work."

"That sounds productive. Your day might be a bit busy, lady bug." Her grandmother laughed. Imani nodded in agreement.

"I know but it's expected..."

"You know the entire time you were gone and I was breaking my back looking for you, the school never reached out to me and said a thing?"
