"Ah, McCrey. Who would have thought we would meet again in less than seven days? You still haven't had enough of me, have you?" Daniel O'Donnell greeted his opponent with a smug grin.

"I guess you'd like that, O'Donnel. So then I'd say let's get started. The way I see it, your client is in pretty deep shit. He'll be lucky to get out of jail in his mid-60s. We've got some material recently that's pretty damaging to your client, so better watch out what you're going to say. Mr. DuGrey has arranged for..."

"Let's cut the bullshit, McCrey. I know the indictment. I'm going to take you and your clients down, regardless of the consequences. You can count on that." he countered while Tristan quietly observed the conversation between the lawyers.

Of course, he was aware that he was in "deep shit", as mentioned. It never occurred to him that Logan would find his and Rory's daughter again. The plan he had worked out with Pierre all those years ago has been foolproof, or so he thought. But he was sure that his lawyer, who cost him a lot of money, would get him out of this mess.

He could only hope that no one had access to his son's laptop. Jason had no clue that his father had more incriminating material on his computer as well as some of the hard drives that he kept well hidden in a secret stash.

"Oh well, we'll see about that. In any case, we have to come to an agreement. We could also open up a settlement immediately if your client pleads guilty. If we go to court, it will be very, very messy. I can assure you that. So now to you, Mr. DuGrey," Colin cleared his throat and looked at Tristan with a cold stare.

"Oh, Rory and Logan are probably scared to talk to me? I can assure you.."

"Tristan..." his lawyer warned him, looking at him with raised eyebrows. "What, I..."

"Let me negotiate, please... and I'm sure you'll have your conversation with McCrey's clients..." he said with a severe facial expression while he hoped that his client would finally shut up.

"That lousy..."

"Logan, I can't imagine what's going on inside you right now. I'm also a dad to a five-year-old daughter, and if anyone would hurt her, I'd break every bone in their bodies. But you're doing great, and believe me, this piece of trash of a human being will get his punishment..." Alex interrupted him and tried to calm him down a little bit.

Logan was aware that Alex wanted to help him, but that didn't help him at all at the moment. The anger paired with helplessness and hatred towards Tristan almost took his breath away. With clenched hands and enormous body tension, Logan watched the events in the interrogation room, which of course, did not go unnoticed by Rory. She gently squeezed her husband's hand and gave him an encouraging smile. "I wonder what's taking so long.
But I'm sure Colin will kick their asses." Rory now broke the silence.

"I hope so; it's so hard for me..to see him. He almost destroyed us, Rory," he replied, and Rory believed to see tears in his eyes. His brown eyes were fixed on the people in the hearing room.

"I know Logan. But we have to get through this now, but I'm glad that our kids are safe at the moment. I'm still so sorry for Norah. I mean, she's tough, but she needs us and I don't want to push her. It's already hard enough for her to process that Max and Katherine aren't her biological parents. We have to give her time to adjust herself to this new situation."

Logan turned to his wife, "You're right, Ace, we need to give her time and not expect miracles from her, but that son of a bitch is going to pay for every tear and the emotional mess he has caused for us, Nathalie and Norah. I won't rest until this idiot is behind bars and won't get out for the rest of his life. "

For a brief instant, he closed his eyes, took a deep breath, then took his wife in his arms without waiting for a reaction from her and looked deep into her blue eyes. Then, in a silent agreement, the two of them swore to themselves, now more than ever, to stick together to master the next exhausting months that lie ahead of them.
