"Nathalie you know I always have an open ear for you. I still can’t believe it that your parents had lied to you for fourteen years. But what are your next steps?" Nic asked her after a few minutes had passed.

"I...I don't know, but I have to do something Nici. I thought about how I get more information about Norah, but I have no idea how to get into Dad's or Mom's office without getting caught. They always locked their offices..." Nat shrugged her shoulders and wiped with her t-shirt sleeve her tears away.

Nicole looked at her friend thoughtfully, and a big grin spread over her lips. "I may have an idea. Dad has the office key to Uncle Logan's office as far as I know. We could go back to your house with the excuse that you forgot something at home."
For the first time all night, Nathalie smiled, and her eyes lit up.  She could always count on Nic. She said, “Nici, you are a sneaky genius!”  Nathalie wasn’t sure what she would find or even what she was looking for, but it felt good to do something.  She smiled again at her friend as they got up.

For a guilty moment, Nathalie hesitated. Was it the right thing to do? To sneak into her dad’s office to look for information about her twin sister Norah? Then she reasoned that she shouldn't feel guilty about going behind her parents backs. After all, they were the ones that had lied to her for fourteen years. She shook her head and tried not to overthink it.

“I’m feeling like Thelma and Louise Sweets. Come on let’s go to Dad’s office before...”
“Before what princess?”, Robert stuck his head into her room.

“Oh hi, Dad..”, she greeted her father slightly annoyed that her father intruded on her.

“Hey girls is there anything I can help you with?”, Robert asked his daughter and looked at her with raised eyebrows.

“Well, Dad, Nathalie and I are working on a school project for history, and she forgot her USB stick in Uncle Logan’s office,” she paused.  “Unfortunately he’s in Stars Hollow. Maybe you could give us a lift to Nat’s place?  I know you have the spare key to Uncle Logan’s office. Could we borrow your key to get into his office pretty please Daddy?”, Nic explained to her father, giving him doe eyes.

“Come on Dad, it’s pretty important. After all, we should do the presentation of the project in front of our entire history class in 4 days.  You don’t want us to fail, do you?” Nici continued to ramble.

Robert looked at his eldest daughter frowning, somehow the whole thing seemed quite suspect to him. He had a feeling there was more to this story than a missing USB stick.

And he wondered how she knew that he had the spare key to Logan's office. Only Logan's closest friends had the spare keys to his office.
Finn, Colin and himself had gotten the keys in case anything happened to him and Rory so they could have access to their wills and the important newspaper articles about Norah.

"First, how do you know I have the spare key to Uncle Logan's office? Could it be that you eavesdropped on me when I had a phone call with Uncle Logan a few days ago, young lady?" he confronted her and looked at her seriously.
Embarrassed, Nici lowered her gaze. "Sorry Dad, I didn't want to eavesdrop on you, but I wanted to ask you something important and you were on the phone.  I wasn’t intentionally eavesdropping..."

"Okay, put on your jackets, I'll take you to Nat's house, and I'll lend you the spare key but don't you ever mention before Logan that I lent you the key," Robert gave in, clearing his throat.

“Thank you so much Daddy!”

“Yeah, thank you Uncle Robert.” Nat nodded excited.
When they got to Logan’s office, Robert parked out in front of the house and handed Nici the key.  He said, “You have five minutes. I will be waiting here. Grab the USB and get back here. Be sure to lock up behind yourselves!!
“Yes, Dad,” Nici said practically pushing Nathalie out of the car.

The girls got to the door of the office and unlocked the door.  Nathalie slowly turned the knob, suddenly nervous about what she would discover.
“Come on, come on!  We only have five minutes and we don’t even know what we are looking for,”  Nici said. But then she smiled slyly and said, “But look at what we already found!”  In her hand was a USB stick. She had brought one with her. Nathalie thought her friend was brilliant for thinking ahead.

The girls entered the office and made a bee-line for the desk.  They figured anything important would most likely be hidden in a drawer in the desk, not just laying around on a shelf or something.
They began opening drawers.  The usual desk items were found in the top two.  The third drawer down was locked. They looked at each other defeated.

“Wait, wasn’t there a little key in the top drawer?”  Nat said. She reopened the drawer and grabbed the tiny key.
It slid right into the lock on the third drawer. She smiled when she heard the lock click and opened the drawer.
The girls peered into the open drawer and saw several files.  They appeared to be personal, family files, not work related.

They saw tabs labeled: “house insurance”, “car titles”, “medical insurance”, “credit cards”, and on and on.  Towards the back, Nathalie spotted her name on a file.
She separated the tabs and looked in the file.  It contained her birth certificate and social security information and several other important documents and photos. Directly behind her file, she saw a file labeled “Norah”.  Her heart was beating in her throat.

Just then, the girls heard the outside door close.  Nathalie quickly grabbed the file labeled “Norah” and shoved it in her coat before closing the drawer.

It relocked automatically.  She dropped the tiny key back in the top drawer just as Robert walked into the room. “You girls find what you need?”  he asked walking over to the desk.

“Yup,” Nici said holding up the USB she had brought.  “Sorry dad, we were looking at pictures,” Nici explained.  She figured she was only half lying because there were pictures on the desk right in front of them that Logan had on display.  Nici pointed to one and asked her father, “That’s you and Uncle Logan and Uncle Finn. Where was that taken?”

Robert glanced at the photo on the desk and smiled.  He put his arm around Nici and Nathalie and said, “Have I ever told you girls about the Life and Death Brigade?”
Nathalie hugged the file close to her chest and made sure her coat concealed it.  She shook her head, “I don’t think so, Uncle Robert.”

Robert began telling the girls about his college days as they walked back to the car.
