Chapter 45. The Good, the Bad and the Ugly

I'm so sorry that it took me so long to write another chapter. I was so busy with my new school and my internship. Lorelai was nervous when she entered the DZK. She was thrilled to finally meet her granddaughter, but she had waves of doubt and fear. She feared that Norah would reject her and had only agreed to meet her out of kindness. She stopped for a moment and toyed with the idea of calling Luke.

He was the only one who could calm her down. Lorelai took a deep breath, grabbed her iPhone out of her purse, and dialed her husband's number. "Hey, Lore... " "I know it's late, but I'm going to meet Norah now." She sighed,

"Luke, I don't have a clue what I should say to her. What if she... "

"Lorelai, Honey, she won't hate you. The whole situation is anything but easy. This girl is fourteen years old and has been living her entire life with a different family.
I know it's hard, but we have to be patient.
It's a big step that she agreed to meet you. I'll come over to Vienna on the next flight.
I'm sure Shira would want to join me with Jacob and Grace. Do they know they have another sister? Did Rory and Logan already... "

"No, they didn't tell them. I don't think they have a clear mind now to tell them about her.
Maybe we should tell Grace and Jacob about Norah.
I don't know if Logan and Rory can handle going through this emotional chaos again... "Lorelai wondered. She stopped for a moment and closed her eyes while she rubbed her temples. 

Then she said, "And it would be a huge help if you came over with the kids and Shira.
But I have to go now. Please give me a call when you're on the plane. Tell Grace and Jacob that I said hi. Love you, Luke! "

"Of course, Lorelai, love you too, take care. Bye! "Luke said and disconnected the call. ---------------------------------------------------------After Lorelai put her smartphone back in her purse, she tried her best not to freak out as she neared the cinema. It took Lorelai only a few steps and one glance to recognize her. Norah.
Her red long, slightly curly hair fell over her back in gentle waves as she chatted excitedly with her twin sister Nathalie. "Seriously? No way..oh, Mom, grandma is coming just around the corner." Nathalie stopped the conversation and pointed with a nod at her grandmother.

She stopped in front of the young girls, Rory and Katherine. But before anybody could say something, Rory's iPhone started to ring. "One moment, mom..", she mouthed to her and took the call. "Hey, Logan, can I..."

"Ace, I guess you're still in the shopping mall with the girls and Katherine, but you and Kate should come back to Max's place.
We found some groundbreaking news I want to share with you," Logan said urgently.

"Ok, we're coming. Mom just arrived a few minutes ago. I guess I could leave her to spend time with the girls in the cinema." Rory said with a strange feeling in her gut.

"Good, then I'll see you soon, Ace. And Rory?" Logan said.

"Yeah, Logan?" Rory said nervously. Logan called her by her real name when he was worried or deadly serious like now.

"Take care, I love you. No matter what happens in the next few days, I'm really glad that I have you by my side," Logan said while he tried his best to keep his inner balance, although the carousel of thoughts didn't stop turning in his head.

"I love you too, Logan and..and I hope that the groundbreaking news are good ones.." Rory sighed while her mom looked at her curiously.

"Well it depends, just come and you and Katherine will see." Logan answered her.

"Alright, we'll be there in about fifteen minutes. Bye, Logan!"

"Ok, see ya," he said, stopped the conversation, and put his iPhone on the coffee table. -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Rory closed her eyes for a moment. "Mom, is everything ok? "Nathalie asked and was wondering what her father told her mom.

"What did Dad want? "she asked one more time.

"Well, Dad said that Kate and I should go to Max's place because they..." she began.

"Found pieces of evidence, mom?" Nat impatiently interrupted while Norah watched her biological mom and grandmother with a worried facial expression.

"Yes, that seems to be what he meant, but I want both of you to enjoy your vintage movie night with grandma. 
And please don't think about coming to Max's place, Nat.
You and your sister just enjoy an awesome night here," Rory said quickly. She looked at her seriously, and then she turned to Norah with a soft smile.

"I'm so sorry that we have to go now, sweets. I promise we'll spend time together again tomorrow. "

"It's all right, and I've had a great time so far. Thank you for spending so much time with me today. And now we're enjoying our movie night. Mom, I'll see you later! "Norah nodded, hugged her mom and Rory.
"Sure, Emm..I mean, Norah. I'll see you later. Lorelai, it was nice meeting you even if it was a short meeting." Katie said and felt a little bit awkward towards Lorelai.

"Sure, well, I guess we should get the tickets girls. How about nachos and popcorn? This one's on me." Lorelai said, and turned to her granddaughters.

"Oh, yeah, and gummy bears shouldn't be missing under any circumstances. "Norah added and smiled from one ear to another.
