I wasn't used to being the center of attention, with Sukuna by my side I felt like I was in the spotlight the entire time. Every girl in the room couldn't keep their eyes off him, and all the guys seemed to be impressed by his physique. Blushing as the thought of him half naked and sweaty during our training session crossed my mind.
The entire day, I felt his eyes on me, raking over me like I'd gotten accustomed to him doing. I kept checking the time, I really wasn't enjoying the attention from everyone else and I just wanted to be with Sukuna, my family, and Dylan. Where the hell was Dylan anyway?
"Looking for Dylan?" Sukuna's deep voice whispered in my ear. All I could do was nod.
"Have you seen him yet? I haven't heard from him at all." I knew he was supposed to be coming, but we had a fairly large class that graduated so it was a big venue.
"I know where he is." Dropping his arm from my shoulders to my waist, he guided me down a side hallway and up a staircase. I didn't even know this was part of what the school had rented.
I heard a band playing and I knew right away that Dylan would be here. Of course he would be, away from all the snobs and people we tried to avoid, while I had been stuck in the thick of it.
Dylan saw us right away and came running over. "I was wondering how long it would take you to get here!" He smirked. "Enjoying Ashley's wit too much to leave huh?" Ignoring Sukuna's arm wrapped around me, he pulled me into a tight hug.
Looking over at Sukuna, his expression hadn't changed. He knew Dylan was my best friend, but I seen a flash of something pass through his eyes as he stared at us. As soon as Dylan let go of me, Sukuna walked towards him. He towered over Dylan and I held my breath.
"Good to see you again man." Dylan said with a smile across his face. "I hope you're treating Y/N like the queen she is." His face turned serious. "Or I'll have to intervene." But as soon as he said it, his face went back to being cheerful. Not realizing what he had just said, and to who he had said it.
I just chuckled nervously. Trying to figure out how to diffuse the possible explosion that was about to happen. I smiled my most charming smile, resting my hand on Sukuna's arm. "I'm doing amazing Dylan! But what fun is it just standing around here and talking? We should be dancing!" Pulling them to the dance floor I looked at Sukuna, making sure his eyes were on me and not staring daggers at Dylan.
Sukuna seemed content with just pulling me in closer. I was relieved when it was time to go back to my house, Sukuna was usually on his best behavior around my parents and grandma.
The relief was short lived as Ashley was, once again, making herself the center of attention as people left. Sukuna must have felt my apprehension, he pulled me closer as we got to the door. She reached out to playfully stroke his arm.
"It was so good meeting you Sukuna, I hope I get to see more of you in the near future." Ugh. I'd punch her but I didn't want to make a scene. I felt Sukuna squeeze my shoulder reassuringly.
"I can't say the same to you...uh, Andrea." He said in passing as we walked out the door. Looking back she was fuming. Good. I giggled to myself. God I loved this man.
