A few hours passed by and the bell rang as George and I stood up from our class. Luckily, everyone was ignoring us for now. They were mostly confused that I was back at school already.
The next hour was PE and George and I slowly walked there. He was feeling calmer again, kind of regretting what he screamed at Sapnap. However, it did seem to work since Sapnap had been quiet to both of us all day. He actually didn't talk to anyone, only to himself when he thought he was alone.
I stood in the changing room with PE and sat down and noticed George doing the same. I knew George always wore a hoodie during PE, but he smiled at me shortly.
'My scars faded pretty much, they weren't deep at all last time I hurt myself,' he whispered so only I could hear him. 'Should I try without a hoodie today? They might see my whiteish scars and make fun of me...'
'Pfft, obsessed much if they see that,' I grinned.
George rolled his eyes and pulled off his hoodie. I looked at his arms and noticed very light red lines on his arm. You'd only be able to see them if you came close to him and stared at his arms.
I smiled. 'You're really brave, I'm proud of you.'
'Thank you,' he smiled as I saw one of my friends glare at me.
'Why don't you just participate, dude?' he scoffed.
'Because A CERTAIN boy beat me up yesterday next to all the bruises I already had.'
⚠️ Bullying (short)
'Even that guy who cuts himself is going to participate. Okay, why did no one talk about this yet? He literally cuts himself, isn't that really funny?' the boy wheezed.
Multiple people started laughing and I saw George curling himself up, hiding his arms.
'He should cut himself more, he really deserves that pain and we all know it's just for attention.'
⚠️ Over
I didn't hesitate for any longer and pulled off my hoodie which revealed my bandages and all my old cuts and scars. Everyone turned quiet as I stood up and grabbed George's hand and my hoodie.
He walked with me and smiled shyly as he looked up when we were in the hall. 'You didn't have to do that.'
'You're not getting bullied for this,' I answered. 'I love you and if they bully you for this, then they bully me for it too.'
'I love you too,' he whispered as he walked into my arms. I wrapped my arms around him and pulled him in for a tight hug, ruffling his hair up with a smile.
'I might pull my hoodie back on in a minute because I'm very uncomfortable, but I don't care anymore. At least they know and won't only bully you with it.'
George nodded and let me pull my hoodie on, walking back into my arms after that. 'Clay? Something I didn't tell you was that I felt really alone too before I met you which isn't too weird since I got bullied and had no one, but I once dreamt of getting one friend and you are even more amazing than the friend in my dreams.'
I smiled and sat down with him, holding my arm around his shoulders. 'You're sweet and I love you so much. I just want to hold you all day and make you feel safe.'
'I want you to feel safe too.'
'I feel safe when I'm near you. Even if you might not be able to help me against five guys, I'm still safe with you because I know you're always on my side.'
'Unless you kill someone!' George giggled.
'I mean... if it's one of the bullies.'
George chuckled and I stood up when the teacher walked in. 'Let's help him.'
~~~
We helped the teacher and waited for everyone else to be ready. Everyone was inside, but Sapnap and it even started to worry me now. He hadn't been himself all day and I didn't think this was just because of George this morning.
I decided to act like I had to go to the toilet and I walked to the changing room, seeing Sapnap sit down with tears in his eyes. He was holding his arm out and held a blade above his wrist with shaky hands.
'No, stop that!' I yelled as I walked up to him and grabbed the blade he was trying to hide. 'Why? What were you trying?'
He seemed in shock and stared in front of him. 'I just wanted to try,' he whispered, tapping his foot on the floor.
'Sapnap, why are you so drowsy, are you okay? Did you take anything?'
He didn't answer me and I went to his bag, seeing a bottle of pills sticking out from it.
'What's this? How many did you take?'
'Just medication to stay calm...' he mumbled. 'And I took seven.'
'Are you trying to kill yourself?' I asked with a shocked tone in my voice.
'That would be fun,' he murmured, breathing out. 'Then I'd see my family again...'
'W-what?'
'I already lost a lot of family members and today I lost my mother,' he answered. 'She was my best friend, because everyone, including myself, hates me.'
'I'm so sorry,' I whispered. 'Today?'
'This morning...' he mumbled, tapping his hands on his knee. 'At least she's safe now.'
'Was she not safe before?'
'No, no, no... no one is safe.' If I wouldn't have known he was on medication, I would have thought he was really drunk. He was staring at one spot, barely moving himself as he glanced at me. 'You hate me too.'
I didn't answer him and he looked away, tapping his knees again. He stared in front of him and then stood up slowly, turning back to me with a tear that rolled down his face.
'But you know... at least my mother is with my two siblings and my uncle,' he smiled. 'That's the only thing that comforts me right now.'
He walked away as my mouth fell open. His siblings... his siblings were all alive just two weeks ago. What was happening there at home? He needed saving...
