—~~••~~—•BANG BANG BANG•
I jumped up at the sound of Sensei banging the gong, jolting me out of a restless sleep.
Yesterday had been a whirlwind. We discovered that Lloyd was keeping a treehouse in the forest with the Hypnobrai. Long story short, we dealt with them, but when we returned to the monastery, we found it burned to the ground.
And as if that wasn't enough, Zane had run off. Thankfully, he was just following his falcon, which led us to this ship—the Destiny's Bounty. However, this oh-so-wonderful ship was severely out of date.
Sharing a room with Nya, I groaned, "Why so early..." Almost immediately a window shutter fell to the floor with a clatter.
Yeah badly out of shape, I thought, grimacing. I sighed and rubbed my eyes, trying to shake off the remnants of sleep and the residual unease from the chaotic events of the past day.
I glanced over at Nya, who looked equally tired. "Looks like another long day," she murmured, yawning as she stretched.
"Yeah," I agreed, forcing myself to get up. "No rest for good, I guess."
As I got dressed, my mind drifted back to the state of the Destiny's Bounty. The ship was a mess, but it had potential. We just needed to put in the work.
"I have to go somewhere with Sensei today, so I think he's going to make you guys clean," Nya informed me.
"Alright, I guess this place does need to be cleaned up a little," I replied, heading to the bathroom to change my clothes. The ship was in rough shape, and it wouldn't hurt to give it some attention.
After I was done, I walked into the ninja's room. "What is our lesson today, Sensei? Mastering the strike of the scorpion? Or perhaps the grace of a—" I was interrupted as Zane fell through the floor, coughing up dust. I winced. This place really was a wreck.
"I think today's lesson will be chores," Sensei Wu declared.
The team groaned in protest.
"Ninja fight, Sensei; they do not clean," Cole said, crossing his arms.
"In order to respect ourselves, we must respect our new home and where we are from. And this place is a long way from becoming a ninja headquarters. I expect things to be spotless when I return. And put your backs into it," Sensei Wu said firmly, banging the gong one last time before leaving with Nya.
"This place is gonna take forever to clean and fix up," Kai grumbled.
"Unless we put more than our backs into it, huh?" Jay smirked, making the rest of us smile. This would be practically a piece of cake.
Determined, I headed onto the deck and focused, feeling the familiar surge of power as I activated my Spinjitzu. The whirlwind I created swept across the deck, lifting and carrying away the dirt and debris in a matter of moments. When the wind died down, the deck was pristine.
Breathing a little heavier but satisfied with my work, I walked into the game room. Jay was there, busy at work, and I saw that he had managed to charge up the equipment. The lights flickered to life, and the screens hummed with energy.
"Finish your chores?" I asked the four of them, hoping they had made some progress.
"Look around, I think we did!" Kai shouted, a bit too enthusiastically, making me roll my eyes.
