Song in title- Double Life (From "Despicable Me 4") by Pharrell Williams
—~~••~~—I heard a million eruptions of laughter come from Kai's classroom. I turned to Nya, giving her a look as I rubbed my temples. "Remind me why I became a teacher again?" I groaned, opening the fridge to get a water bottle.
Nya chuckled as she leaned against the counter. "Because the world doesn't need ninja anymore, and you didn't want to work at your father's dojo," she replied, smiling as I tossed her a water.
"Oh yeah, right." I smiled, taking a sip just as more chaos erupted from down the hall. "Better go see what's happening," I sighed, walking briskly down the hallway and entering the room to find Kai, Cole, and Zane glitching on the table.
"Brad got an ultra remote from New Ninjago City, and it's controlling Mr. Zane," Marla laughed, pointing at Zane's erratic movements.
"How do you turn this thing off?" Cole asked, his face contorted in frustration as he examined the remote.
"Hurry up, Cole. My liquid spirit level is making me less level," Zane replied, jumping around.
I watched as Cole was about to smash the remote, but I quickly snatched it from his grasp and hit the off switch. "It really isn't that hard, guys," I said, tossing the remote back to Brad.
"Thank you, Miss Y/n, for not breaking my stuff like Mr. Cole does all the time," Brad remarked with a cheeky grin. I smirked at Cole, who only rolled his eyes and crossed his arms.
"I heard that," Cole stated to Brad just as the bell rang, and the kids bolted out, bumping into Cole and knocking him onto the floor with Zane. "Unh! Ah, recess. My favorite time," he grumbled.
I helped both Zane and Cole up, guiding them to the teacher's lounge. "Come on, guys. Just try to understand the students here. They grow up in a world full of technology. The least you could do is not break their stuff," I said, eyeing Cole. He sighed and pulled some pudding out of the fridge.
"It's not my fault everything is so complicated now!" Cole protested, opening the pudding cup.
Just then, Jay burst into the room and yanked open the fridge door. "All right! Who took my pudding cup? My name was clearly written on it."
"I didn't see Motor Mouth on it," Cole remarked, tossing the empty pudding cup into the trash.
"I'm telling the headmaster," Jay rambled, his eyes wide with indignation.
"Leave me out of it. I'm on break, too," Sensei called from his office, not even looking up from his papers.
"Relax, Jay. You can have mine," Kai said, pulling one out of his bag and tossing it to him.
"But this isn't cold," Jay sighed, holding it out to Zane, who flipped a switch in his arm and froze the cup with a click. "Oh, give me. Mm," Jay smiled, then looked around.
"Is anyone else chapped that Lloyd gets to be the Golden Ninja and fly around accepting awards while we're stuck here being teachers with no powers? Ah, I miss our elemental weapons," Jay complained, slumping into a chair as Nya ran in, shutting the door quickly.
"Hi, Miss Nya. I like your dress, Miss Nya." I could hear a boy's voice from the door behind her, causing her to cringe.
"Why is it that when I teach, I get the feeling that none of the boys are listening?" Nya asked, annoyed, as she leaned against the door to keep it shut.
