Song in title- Time
by Pink Floyd
—~~••~~—Kai drew his sword, and although Lloyd blocked it, he didn't stop the attack and fell, rolling to his side.
"Hahaha, you're getting pretty good, but that move you fell for was basic 101," Kai laughed, offering a hand to help him up while Nya handed me a piece of watermelon.
"Yeah, if I had focused more when I was little, I would've seen that coming," Lloyd admitted, catching his breath and dusting off his gi.
"We cannot change the past, but we can improve for the future. Again, and this time, do not hold back," Sensei Wu stated, moving out of the way and signaling for the sparring to continue.
The Falcon squawked as it returned to the Bounty, flapping its mechanical wings before landing on my arm. I walked over to Zane and gently transferred the bird to his arm, feeling its cool metal feathers brush against my skin.
I was about to walk away until I heard Zane say, "The Falcon has returned with troubling news. What did you see, my mechanical-feathered friend?"
I looked at the computer screen as Zane activated it, revealing images of Serpentine in the Lost City of Ouroboros.
"The Lost City of Ouroboros!" Nya exclaimed, her eyes widening as she leaned in closer to the screen.
I took a bite of my watermelon, the sweetness contrasting with the worry growing inside me. "Why would my father go back there?" I muttered to myself, trying to piece together the puzzle.
"Looks like they're preparing for a final battle," Cole stated, his tone serious as we watched the Serpentine fight each other in the images on the screen.
Nya nodded and turned to the helm. "Changing course. We'll head straight for them."
Just then, Sensei Wu knocked the watermelon slice out of my hand with a swift movement of his staff. "What was that for?!" I shouted, watching the watermelon tumble overboard, leaving a sticky trail on the deck.
"Help train your brother; you need it too," Sensei Wu smiled, his eyes twinkling with wisdom as he walked away.
I sighed and picked up a practice sword from the rack. "Alright, Lloyd, let's see what you've got," I said, taking a fighting stance and adjusting my grip on the hilt.
Lloyd grinned, his determination lighting up his eyes. "Bring it on, Y/n," he replied, mimicking my stance.
As we began our sparring session, our swords clashed with a metallic ring. I couldn't help but feel a mix of pride and concern for my brother. He had grown so much, and now, with a looming battle ahead, we all needed to be at our best.
"Remember, Lloyd, it's not just about strength. It's about strategy and timing," I advised, sidestepping one of his strikes and countering with a light tap on his shoulder.
Kai and Cole joined in, offering pointers and encouragement. "Watch your footing, Lloyd. And Y/n, don't go easy on him," Cole said, demonstrating a defensive move with his own practice sword.
Kai chuckled, leaning against the railing. "Yeah, and maybe don't let Sensei knock any more watermelon out of your hand, Y/n."
I laughed despite the tension. "I'll try my best," I replied, parrying another strike from Lloyd and giving him a nod of approval when he blocked my next attack with more confidence.
We continued training, the camaraderie and determination among us growing stronger. Lloyd's movements became more fluid and precise, reflecting his rapid improvement. I felt a surge of pride watching him adapt and learn with each passing moment.
