Me and Bryce walked towards the IT corridor together in silence, I had a bubbling nerve that it would be awkward to say anything, but those nerves only seemed to increase as I looked towards Bryce who had a faint but devious smile painted onto his face.
What in the fuck was he smiling about, did he like IT that much?
He pushed open a door which revealed the actual corridor and outstretched his hand, carrying the body of the projector under his opposite arm, implying for me to walk forward, "ladies first" he joyfully chanted, as if he was proud of himself for being a gentleman.
I thinned my lips into a faint smile and nodded to say thanks as I walked past him, clutching onto the plug of the projector nervously as a heavy pressure started leaning on my chest.
He let the door swing shut and began walking just a little bit ahead of me as I followed.
"Mr. Irvine will end up telling us to put the projector in the storage cupboard just along here anyways so we might as well do it now before walking all the way back after speaking to him." He spoke nodding to a door with a storage sign drilled into it.
I pushed the same weak smile on my face as he looked back at me for a response, I wasn't familiar with this area of the school at all, I was useless with computers, so I didn't really know what I was doing, I didn't even know who Mr. Irvine was. So I was just going to have to trust Bryce, and that he knew what he was doing.
A few more steps and we were at the cupboard, it was pretty isolated from all of the other classrooms, in fact, this whole corridor felt empty, there were no students or teachers about, most of the classrooms were dark inside as far as I could see down the hallway, and there was practically no noise.
Bryce pressed down heavily on the handle of the cupboard and pushed the door open.
It was made of thick wood, it seemed heavy, especially for opening it with one hand as his other was carrying the projector.
He struggled a little whilst holding the door, the projector slipping from his grip. "Ah, Y/n- could you.." he pushed looking down at the projector.
"Oh, yeah." I uttered, holding out both my hands under the projector to catch it before it fell.
"Thank you, you're a star." He laughed looking down at me as I struggled to pull the weight of the machine up into my arms where I could getter a more secure hold of it.
I forced some half hearted friendly laughter so I wouldn't leave the atmosphere as dense as it was becoming.
"If you could just place it on one of the free shelves over there that would be great." He spoke, still holding the door.
I nodded, walking further into the dark room.
It was cold and damp in here, hard to breath.
God how awful would it be if you were trapped in here.
I looked forward and saw a semi empty storage shelf with my sort of height to put the projector onto, but once Bryce let the door sam shut, the room became dark.
I instantly jumped at the sound, my skin crawled with goosebumps as I let my eyes adjust to the darkness.
"Oh- apologies, didn't realise it would be so loud." He innocently laughed before snapping out of his cheery mood and rushing over, "oh sorry, I almost forgot you were holding that, it must be heavy for you."
