For as long as reece could remember, there had always been a bully. whether it be samantha james in preschool, who shoved crayons up reece's nose, or flash thompson who would "accidentally" bump into her so she dropped all of her stuff, there's always a bully around. so when she heard the sound of a basketball hitting something and flash thompson laughing, she immediately stormed up to him.

"you think you're so funny flash? why don't i throw the ball at your head? it might knock some sense back into your big empty head." she looked him up and down with a glare before walking back over to peter, who was rubbing his head in pain. "you ok, pete?"

"yeah, yes. i'm fine. you didn't have to do that. i can fight my own battles." he smiled down at the girl who laughed right in his face.

"yeah, sure. that battle was won by me, your best friend, aka reece cambrey. give me a round of applause." she put her hands up to her face while peter clapped slowly and sarcastically.

"come on, we're gonna be late for class." peter threw his arm over her shoulder, holding his skateboard in the other.

while they were walking down the hall, dodging the rowdy students, a girl came up to peter.

"hey, it's uh... it's peter, right?" reece rolled her eyes at the girl.

"mm-hmm." pete nodded, dropping his arm from reece's shoulder.

"i really like your photos." the girl smiled up at him, reece had a feeling in her stomach that she didn't like. is she going to ask him out?

"oh, thanks. thanks." peter awkwardly smiled, looking down at reece who was looking at her shoes like they were the most interesting thing in the world.

"uh, listen, are you busy friday night?" reece's head shot up at this question, turning to look at peter. that was their weekly movie night.

"uh." peter shook his head no and shrugged.

"cool. uh, can you take pictures of my boyfriend's car? i just— you know, i want really to frame a good one for his birthday." the girl laughed, pushing her hair behind her shoulder.

"that's really nice of you. wow, that's such a nice thought. um, yeah, i'll have to look at the old, uh— the old schedule. friday is mine and reece's movie night, but i'll let you know." peter dropped his skateboard onto the floor and was getting ready to push off, nodding goodbye to the girl.
