Rumbling was heard throughout the tower. the lights started flickering and reece got an idea. she grabbed a small torch and held it up to the fire alarms. the extinguishers started up and reece sighed. gwen looked at the girl like she was stupid.
"it's supposed to close down the lab, right?" reece asked right when the emergency doors started to come down.
"i didn't even know that." gwen nodded in approval. the computer for the antidote announced that there was exactly one minute until it was done.
the doors to the lab were broken off by connors and reece gasped, taking the ganali device and grabbing gwen's hand, dragging her into a maintenance closet, holding a hand over her mouth. gwen closed her eyes tightly while reece looked out of the slits in the door. the lizard snarled, walking around the lab. he stopped, looking at where the ganali device was supposed to be before acting as if he smelled something. he turned around, walking right towards the closet the girls were in.
his footsteps grew closer as reece held her breath and all of a sudden... it stopped. the girls both let out a breath, but connors appeared right in front of the closet, making gwen and reece scream in fear. he ripped the blinds off the door and gwen grabbed the torch from earlier that she had pocketed, without reece's knowing, and shot it at the lizard's face. he threw up a hand to block the flame, grabbed the ganali device from reece's hands and walked away. gwen turned off the torch and sighed.
the girls looked at each other before reece decided to peek out from the closet, the computer announced that the antidote was complete and reece made her plan.
"he's going to the roof, gwen. he's gonna unleash that shit on the whole city." reece told the girl who was sweaty and panting. "you get out of here. get everyone you see as far away from oscorp as you can, you hear me?" she grabbed the girls face in her hands to shake her of her fear.
"what about you?" gwen shook her head profusely. "i'm not leaving you here." reece rested her forehead onto gwen's.
"you're my best friend. i love you. hopefully we don't all turn into big, ugly lizards, but i need you to get everyone away." she leaned back to look in the blonde's blue eyes. gwen nodded.
"okay." she stated firmly, shaking her hands out. "i got you. i love you."
gwen ran out of the lab and out of oscorp, demanding that everyone who was still on the streets to evacuate. she herself ran like hell to get away from the lab. reece cambrey, do not die on me tonight.
