Reece was waiting for her boyfriend, standing by the ice cream stand with her phone in her hand. she looked down at the screen, smiling gently at her lockscreen before looking up and around for peter. she looked across from her, in the road, and found him walking through the traffic without a care in the world. she smiled at him, but then gasped as a car almost hit him. he ran the rest of the way to her and she laughed loudly.

"y'know, walking through moving traffic isn't the best of choi—" she started to make fun of him, but he grabbed the back of her neck and pulled her into a kiss. she raised her eyebrows in surprise, kissing him back for a second, before pulling back. "what was that for?"

"can i not just kiss my loving, beautiful, amazing, caring, and wonderful girlfriend out of the blue sometimes?" he asked with a smirk, holding her face in his hands.

"i mean, you can. you definitely can. you've just never done it before. so, why now, skater?" she squinted at him suspiciously, grabbing his hand and interlocking their fingers. he raised their hands up, kissing her soft skin before dropping them down at their sides.

"just appreciating you." he shrugged, guiding her to the window of the ice cream shop. he ordered their favorites, his being vanilla and hers being mint chocolate chip. he never understood why she picked that flavor above everything else and every time he asked her she would respond with the same statement.

"because i'm superior to most human beings."

they got their ice cream and started to walk around the food court. the cold hair was biting at reece's skin and she wanted nothing more than a built-in heater in her jacket.

"i talked to harry today." peter stated, looking over the girl who's eyes shot open wide. "he told me something."

"he told you that we dated back in board school?" she asked, looking up at him with guilt in her eyes. "i'm sorry i didn't tell you, i just— i didn't know how and i didn't want to make you sad and i'm really sorry. i understand if you're mad—"

"i'm not mad, reecey." he said gently, cutting off her rambling. "but why didn't you tell me when we were at the cafe?"

"i don't know, honestly. i guess i was just scared of how you would react." she shrugged, licking her ice cream. he smiled gently and threw his arm around her shoulders, bringing her into his side.
