The day was dark and rainy. ryan's least favorite weather. he always liked the sunshine, the warmth. you could tell it in his face. his tan and warm aura. his embrace was the same. it was like warm, comforting, sun. he always hated it when it rained because it reminded him of funerals. he always told reece that he wanted his funeral to be sunny and warm. if only the world would have listened to his wish.
reece walked out of the church, her eyes held heavy bags and her body felt weak because of how much she had been crying these past few days. blake didn't have to argue much with her lawyers over getting custody of reece, since ryan's parents passed away years ago. she didn't have a place to live and blake was willing to provide that home.
she wished peter would have shown up to the funeral, but she understood why he didn't. she hadn't seen him in a few days and made a mental note to ask blake to take her to his house later. amidst all the people who came to the funeral, gwen sat by reece's side and held her hand. she didn't make a big speech about how her dad was her favorite person, because she didn't think she could stand it. she couldn't stand up in front of over a hundred people and break down. sure, people might have expected her to say a few words, but she couldn't even get any out when people came to pay their respects towards her. she just nodded and tried her best to smile.
she got in blake's car, waiting patiently for the woman who thanked all the guests for coming. reece stared blankly out of the window, leaning her head on her hand. oh, how she wished she could just disappear at this very moment. no pain, no tears, no worry. just simply fly away and out of the emotion she's in right now.

Blake drove reece to peter's house and she thanked her before getting out and walking up to the porch. she knocked gently on the door and may answered, smiling sympathetically at the girl.
"hey, sweetheart." she brought reece in for a hug, holding on tight, letting her know that she was there. reece sighed in comfort, holding the woman just as tight. "peter's up in his room."
"thank you." she smiled softly and walked upstairs, knocking on peter's door. "pete?"
"hi." he said when he opened the door. she sighed, her eyes already welling up. "c'mere." he held her for a while. just standing in the threshold of his doorway, holding her tight until she felt like she was ready to let go.
