Reece was already running late to work at oscorp, waking up with peter parker was a big mistake. he sat and held her, begging her to stay in bed with him for five more minutes. five turned to ten. ten turned into fifteen. and soon, she was running out of the door with her shirt halfway over her head and only one shoe on. she was running through the lobby, trying to get to the elevator as fast as she could. she saw the doors closing and panicked.
"hold the doors, please!" she rushed, trying to keep herself from tripping. she sighed in relief when a man stuck his arm in front of the door, just as it was about to close. she walked into the elevator, pushing her hair back from her face. "thank you so much. most people just let them close."
"yeah, well, most people don't notice other people." the man mumbled, looking down at his shoes. reece quirked at brow at this, but decided not to ask on it.
"what floor, please?" the elevator asked, oscorp's advanced tech never failed to amaze reece.
"uh.. 63–" reece announced, but the man cut her off with a hand on her arm.
"i got it. what is it?" he asked, reece looked at him with a slight smile.
"63." she stated nodding. the man told the floor number to the elevator and they started to ascend. "thanks."
there was an awkward silence and reece rocked on her heels. she hated silence.
"um.. i'm, uh, max." he said, adjusting his stance. reece smiled politely. "max dillon."
"i'm reece, it's nice to meet you." she stuck her hand out for him to shake and he accepted it. she took notice that his palms were unusually sweaty.
"nice to meet you." he nodded with a smile. reece looked down at the files he was holding, noticing a flyer with spider-man on it, stating 'happy birthday!'
"is it your birthday?" she asked, he looked down at the flyer and shrugged sheepishly.
"oh, yeah. friends of mine made this flyer up. i'm having a birthday party at a big club. lots of celebrities." he said, avoiding her eyes. there was something she liked about him, maybe it was because of his awkwardness that kind of reminded her of her boyfriend. or maybe it was because of the innocent, childlike gleam behind his eyes.
"wow, that's so cool." reece exclaimed.
"i would've invited you, but the guest list was full." the elevator stopped on his floor and he looked back at reece with a smile. "anyways, thanks for telling me happy birthday."
