You slept in on Saturday morning, enjoying your day off before heading back to patrol on Monday. You looked over at the letter you placed on your nightstand just like last time. You couldn't believe the way this man already had you wrapped around his finger. He was so vastly different from anyone you'd ever been with and you: he said exactly what was on his mind, he took care of you, he listened to you. You couldn't wait to see him tonight.
You got ready for the day and filled your Jonin vest pockets with essentials. You were training on your own today before heading to your parents house for dinner. After you locked your apartment, you zipped your key in a pocket on your vest and headed for your favorite spot. There was an area on that oversaw some of the village with some trees and a bench. When you first became a chunin, you'd often go there to clear your head (and some much needed space from your parents). After many visits, it just ended up becoming 'your spot': a place you treasured that was tied to so many treasured memories.
As you were walking back to your apartment you heard someone call out "Y/N!" You looked up to see Kurenai waving: Mirai in a carrier on her chest and a small bag of groceries in one of her hands. You jogged over.
"Hey Kurenai!" You said as you stopped in front of her. "Hey Mirai" you said peering over to see her face.
Kurenai smiled. "How are things?" She asked.
"Oh doing fine, just got a bit of training in before I head out tonight" you said.
"Out? What do you have a hot date?" She said with her eyebrows raised.
"Psh, I wish" you said with a chuckle. "No I've got dinner with my parents tonight" you whispered against the back of your hand, rolling your eyes.
"Oh boy, good luck with that" she replied, chuckling herself.
"Right?" You said. "Yeah I'm just headed back to take a shower before I go over."
"Well I won't keep you, get as much alone time in as you can before ... all that" Kurenai said, waving her hand.
You laughed. "Thanks Kurenai, see you later!" You said. You softly patted Mirai's back before whispering "bye Mirai."

You showered then blow dried and straightened your hair before settling on a half up/half down look. You applied some light makeup and finished off with some nude lipstick. You zipped up a black long sleeved jumpsuit with a matching belt tied around your waist in a bow. The ends of the sleeves, pant legs and collar were all trimmed with black lace. You put on some heeled boots, grabbed your purse and long peacoat before closing the door behind you.
You pushed your parents' doorbell and took a deep breath through your nose. Your Mom opened the door.
"Hi (Y/N)! It's so good to ..." she started before looking down at your outfit. "Well, you look like you're going out on the town!" She said. She always posed things in a seemingly harmless way to anyone who didn't know her but if you did, you knew she always used a hostile tone.
"Where did you get this? Are you going somewhere after this? Are you going on a date? What's his name?" She asked.
There they were, the million judge-y questions before you could even get a word in edgewise to answer her. You took a deep breath and gave a small smile.
"It's good to see you too Mom" you said, flatly. You chose to ignore her questions, gave her a hug and walked into the house. "Where's Dad?"
"Oh, he's out back" she said, closing the door.
When you were with them it was like picking between the lesser of two evils: do I sit with my Mom, listening to her myriad of complaints, questions and picky opinions on the neighbors? Or do I sit with my Dad, where it's mostly silence with conversation about work peppered in? I'm gonna go with silence this time.
