The next morning, you headed down the stairs of your apartment building to meet Genma who was waiting for you at the bottom.
"Hey, there she is" he said, wrapping his arm around your shoulder.
"Hey Gen" you said, squeezing his side. "How's it going?"
"Oh you know, same old same old" he said, winking as he let go. "Had dinner at my parent's house last night."
"Oh yeah? How are they doing?" You asked, raising your eyebrows. You both headed in the direction of the front gates.
"Good, yeah. Mom's moved onto another home project, keeping herself busy as always" he said. "Dad just got a Shogi board for the house, Mom said he's been practicing up a storm. He started meeting up with some friends every week to play so he wants to get really good."
Both you and Genma laughed, remembering how competitive his Dad was. "That's awesome, good for them" you said, smiling.
"Yeah, they're the same as always. They asked for you of course" Genma said, turning to you.
You nodded.
"I know it's a loaded topic but ... How are your parents?" Genma asked, chuckling.
You rolled your eyes. "You want to talk about same as always ..." you said, chuckling too. "I had dinner with them over the weekend. Gen, I barely made it an hour this time."
Genma's eyebrows raised. "That bad huh?" He said.
"Oh yeah, the whole nine yards as usual. Laid it on thick grilling me about what I'm doing, what I'm not doing and everything in between. Sorry, I had to tell them I was going to see you to get me out of there. It was a lot" you said, sighing.
Genma waved his hand before putting it hand on your shoulder. "That's no problem. I'm sorry (Y/N), that sucks" he said, frowning.
"Eh, you know how it is" you said, shrugging. "They've always been this way. I just wish they'd stop talking so much and just listen a little more."
Genma nodded. "Me too" he said, wrapping his arm around your shoulder again. "Well you've always got us Shurenais, we're family too."
"Thanks Gen, you guys are the best" you said, smiling.
"Anytime sis" he said smiling back at you. He nodded towards the gate as it game into view. "Looks like those are the new recruits."
You looked up. There were 4 shinobi standing in front of the welcome booth talking amongst themselves.
"New recruits?" You asked, looking confused.
"Oh yeah, I don't think I've had the chance to tell you" Genma started. "Seems we've got a few newbies to train this week. I don't know what you said to Kakashi a few weeks back but the process was expedited to get them here as soon as possible to help."
You tried your hardest not to smile. "Really?" You said, mustering up your best surprised face.
"Really" Genma said, slyly raising his eyebrows and smiling.
"Oh stop" you said, nudging him. "He asked if we needed anything and I told him we need more man power. You know how thinly stretched all of us have been since the war ended."
"No I know, I'm just busting your chops" he said, nudging you back. "I'm glad you said something, this'll help out huge."

Kakashi stopped by your apartment a few times over that week. One day he came by with dinner to share, another day he just came by for a hug & kiss in between meetings.
Late Thursday night, he came by with some dumplings. "I'm not sure why but I just felt inclined to bring some of these over to you" he said, handing them over.
You smiled to yourself, knowing exactly why. "Thanks, I've really been enjoying these lately" you said.
"Oh good" he replied, smiling. He took a seat at your island opposite you as you started to unwrap the dumplings.
"Actually, I have an idea" Kakashi said, holding his hand over the box you just opened. You glanced up at him and raised an eyebrow.
"I know a good spot where we can enjoy these, if you're up for it" he said, smiling under his mask.
You smiled and looked over at the time. 10:30pm. "Let's do it" you said, closing the box again.
Kakashi walked around to opposite side of the island, standing behind you. He pressed his body up against you and laid his hands over yours.
"I'll be taking this" he whispered in your ear as he took the box from under your hands. He stepped back slightly and put the box in his vest before guiding your hips to turn around and face him.
You looked up at him and wrapped your hands around the back of his neck, pulling him in closer to you. His breath hitched and, in one fluid motion, he grabbed your hips to sit you on top of the counter. You wrapped your legs around his hips and leaned into his neck, signaling that your eyes were closed.
Kakashi removed his mask and quickly found your lips. You both moved in sync as the hunger and passion for each other spilled over. Your hands were still on the back of Kakashi's neck while his hands were on your hips, both of you pulling each other in as close as humanly possible.
Kakashi ran his tongue over your bottom lip before nibbling and sucking on it slightly. You let out a small moan into his mouth.
He kissed the side of your lips, then your cheek and trailed down your neck to your collarbone. Your eyes remained closed as you breathily said "Kakashi ... at this rate we'll ... never leave my apartment."
Kakashi hummed against your collarbone as he trailed across, kissing up the opposite side of your neck and made his way back up to your lips again. He held his lips on yours for a few seconds before giving you another quick kiss and leaning in for a hug. You could feel the tightness in his pants against your inner thigh as he adjusted his mask out of your line of sight. You felt a shiver spread over your body.
Kakashi returned to look at you and held his hand out. You grabbed it and hopped off the counter. "Ok, give me a second and we'll head out" he said, chuckling. He headed over to the couch. "Are you ok with meeting me there?"
"Yeah, I think that's a good idea" you said, tucking a piece of hair behind your ear.

You met at a nearby hill at the edge of a wooded area and took a seat on a bench that overlooked the village. Kakashi opened the slightly crushed dumplings and you both laughed.
As you were finishing your last dumpling, Kakashi was twirling the stick back and forth in between his fingers. You couldn't help but watch as he moved it so quickly and effortlessly.
"Hey, I just wanted to let you know" he started. You looked up at him. "I'll be away for the next few days. I'm headed to the Hidden Sand village to meet with the Kazekage on a few matters."
You swallowed the last bite in your mouth before responding. "Okay, well I hope everything goes well" you said. "Safe travels."
"Thank you. I just ... felt like I should let you know" he said, quieter than before. He looked down. "Since we've been seeing a lot of each other lately ... And unfortunately I won't be coming by for a few days."
You smiled to yourself. "That's really sweet, thank you" you said.
He looked side to side (like he really needed to with his senses) before he laid his hand over yours. He looked in your eyes. "I'll miss you, (Y/N)" he said before a smile spread across his face.
You smiled and bit your lip. "I'll miss you too" you said, quietly. "I'll see you when you get back."
"As soon as I possibly can" he said, thumbing the top of your hand.
