Morning light seeps into the room, rays of sun spreading across the carpeted floor to signal the beginning of a new day. Birds sing on the trees outside the windows, a natural alarm that slowly causes Dream to flutter open his eyes, tiredness washing over him immediately from the lack of sleep last night.
Though, even with the tiredness and oncoming headache, he can't bring himself to feel any regret for what he did, the bubbling warmth in his stomach overpowering any negative emotions. Reaching for his phone, he looks at the time quickly before swinging his legs over the side of the bed and stretching. A few clicks come from his body, evidence of sleeping in an odd position at some point in the night.
Yawning once, he glances over to where the brunette should lay, however, he's not there. Instead, he can hear humming noises coming from down the hall, probably the kitchen if he's going to take a guess. With one more big stretch, he finds himself walking towards the bedroom door which has been left slightly ajar, George never fully shutting it when he leaves of a morning after waking up before Dream.
He pulls it open, the metal cold against his fingertips which are rather warm for a morning, being heated by the knowledge of what's to come tomorrow. As he steps into the hall, the cold leaving his fingertips and allowing warmth to return, he can't help but draw in a shaky breath. He has to tell George today, tell him that he stayed up for most of the night researching and then signing up for adoption agencies.
It wouldn't be that much of a big deal if they'd discussed it further, if they'd sat down and had a long conversation about it in which they'd decided that they could research adoption agencies. But that hadn't happened, instead, Dream had heard the words 'yes', to raising a child, seen the loneliness in his partners eyes and decided to take matters into his own hands.
Before he has any time to think any further, he finds himself in the kitchen, eyes catching on George whose stood making pancakes, humming a song he knows all too well. A small smile tugs on his lips, the domesticity warming his stomach even more. This is definitely something he could get used to in the future.
Staying silent, he walks quietly behind George, wrapping his arms around a slim waist and pulling the brunette so that his back is flush to Dreams chest. His head rests atop brown curls as he presses a short kiss to George's head, earning a small laugh from the brunette.
"Hi", he mutters, voice slightly muffled by brown curls, "What're you making?"
"Pancakes", the brunette answers in response, "Haven't made them in a while so I thought I'd surprise you."
Dream hums quietly, "How'd you sleep?", he presses another soft kiss to the brunettes hair.
"I slept well, you?", George returns the question, flipping over a pancake as he does so.
"Not great", he tells the truth, "Couldn't sleep for ages", a sigh escapes his lips as he contemplates quickly, "I was thinking", it not the whole truth, but will definitely prompt a question.
"Thinking?", George gives the question he wanted in return whilst placing the pancake onto a plate already stacked, "About what?", it's pushed gently.
"Us", he shrugs his shoulders, pulling back from the brunette and taking the plate of pancakes in his hands, "About our future."
He makes his way over to the table, grabbing the syrup and squeezing it onto his pancakes, watching as it runs down the sides and spreads out across the plate.
"What do you mean?", George asks, voice laced with curiosity as he grabs the other plate and takes his respective seat opposite Dream.
Dream sighs, it's now or never, he can't exactly lie his way through why there's an adoption agency coming to look around their house tomorrow. He looks up from his plate, viridescent meeting mocha across the table.
"Last night", he starts slowly, "I couldn't sleep, I kept thinking about our wedding, after the ceremony", he catches the look in George's eyes that tells him he knows what he's talking about, "And I guess I got carried away because now there's a five page word document on my computer about how adoption works and the best adoption agencies in Florida."
His eyes cast back down to the table, not wanting to watch George's reaction, feeling embarrassed that he did all of that without telling the brunette.
"You did that for me?", George's voice is quiet, soft, like he's testing the waters.
With a shaky breath, Dream replies, "Yeah", there's silence between them, so quiet he can hear George's breath hitch in his throat.
"Can I see it?", the brunette asks gently, voice still soft as though he's processing what he's just heard, "The document?"
Placing his knife and fork down on his plate, Dream looks up again, "Yeah", he responds, "Yeah it's on my computer. But- I- there's something else", his voice drifts off towards the end, ashamed in a way.
"What do you mean?", George probes gently, "C'mon Dream I can't mind read", it's a jokey tone, one meant to change the atmosphere but it immediately dies down when Dream doesn't laugh in response, "What did you do?", his tone is firmer, not harsh, just demanding.
"I- dont be mad", he stumbles over his words, all warmth suddenly disappearing, "I should've asked you first."
George lifts one eyebrow and gestures for Dream to continue, making a circle with his hand.
"I signed us up for an adoption agency and they're coming to look around the house tomorrow. I know I should've asked you first and we should've spoken more about it because things like this can't be impulsive but I just couldn't stop thinking and I-", he's so caught up in his words that he doesn't notice George standing up from his seat and making his way round to where Dream sits.
"Hey", George interrupts, laying a hand on Dreams shoulder causing the blonde to snap his eyes up, "I'm not mad."
"You're not?", it comes out quiet and squeaky, nothing like the voice he usually hears when he speaks.
"No", it's soft, "C'mere", George pulls Dream up and into a hug, nestling his head into his chest whilst the blonde relaxes into his neck.
" 'm still sorry", Dream mumbles out, "I should've asked you but I was so excited."
"Yes you should've asked me and we probably should've spoken more about this. But I know for a fact we wouldn't have gotten around to doing this unless you did something impulsive, and here we are", the brunette rubs Dreams back, "Now I guess we just need to clean".
Dream laughs a little at this, voice slightly watery where realisation has hit him, they're actually going to raise a child together.
"We're going to have a kid", he mumbles, "Holy shit."
"Yeah", George's voice wavers, "We are", he laughs slightly, "Oh my god, this is actually happening".
They both break out into soft, watery laughs, tears pricking both of their eyes as they tighten their embrace, sinking to their knees on the kitchen tiles whilst holding each other close.
"Can I see the agency?", George asks as he rubs his eyes, voice croaky from the happy tears that are still glistening his eyes.
"Yes, god, yes", Dream responds, grabbing George's hand and pulling them to their feet.
It's a short stumble with laughter and tears to the bedroom with Dreams computer, hands still linked whilst Dream uses one hand to type in his password.
