Dream was out, he'd gone grocery shopping in the early hours of the morning (early for George at least) leaving George at home with a six going on seven month old who constantly tried to crawl away from him.
"Addy!", he yells when she falls flat on her face for what must be the tenth time in the last five minutes. A hand moves up to his face and he rubs it gently as he watches Adelia sit herself back upright as though nothing happened.
She turns her head to look at him with curiosity, wondering why he was so worried. George, being the child he is, sticks his tongue out at her and goes back to looking at his phone.
However, he isn't on it for long before Adelia falls over again. Deciding perhaps he should actually be watching his daughter, he turns off his phone and sets it on the coffee table before focussing back on Adelia who is now flailing around on her stomach.
"You're not getting anywhere like that", George laughs at her quietly, not knowing of what's about to happen. Within a few seconds Adelia has pushed herself forward using her little hands, wriggling her way along the floor towards her giraffe that sits just a little way away from where she was originally playing.
"Holy shit", George exclaims, going to sit on his knees by the little brunette, "You're moving Addy!", he picks her up from the floor and turns her to face him.
Staring into little green eyes he pulls her into a hug of pride, after all, she shouldn't be able to move around her but she just did. Screw Dream and his baby research it clearly wasn't good enough to predict this.
Suddenly a door opens, signalling George of Dreams return. Quickly, he pushes himself off his knees with Adelia still in his arms and rushes towards the door speaking loudly as he does so.
"Woah", Dream holds his hands up as George just speaks as fast as he can at the blonde, "Slow down Georgie", he laughs slightly, taking Addy from the brunettes outstretched arms.
"She crawled!", George speaks after taking in a deep breath, "She moved along the floor, it was amazing!", the pride is evident in his voice, lacing each and every one of his words that leave his lips when speaking about the event.
A smile tugs on Dreams lips at the news and he spins Adelia round in the air with a grin.
"You're so clever", he says with a smile, "My clever little Addy", the little brunette lets out a laugh as she's spun round by Dream.
"When did it happen", the blonde asks curiously, leaving the grocery bags behind in a forgotten heap as they make their way into the lounge.
"About five seconds before you walked in the door", George says with a smile, "Put her down there I'm sure she'll move", he points to where she was laying before.
Dream nods and places her in a sitting position on the floor, taking her giraffe and sitting a little ways back from her as to encourage her to crawl.
Nothing happens at first, that is until Dream coos at her and she falls forwards onto her belly like she had before. Sticky little hands pull on the carpet as she wiggles herself forwards, manoeuvring herself towards the blonde. Her legs flail about behind her in an erratic pattern as she moves but it doesn't matter because her stomach and arms are the things helping he push forward.
In no time at all she's made it to Dream, grabbing the giraffe out of his hands and sitting up in front of him, babbling away to herself.
"See", George says with a smile, "I'll go put the food away."
Dream looks at him and nods, though he falters slightly beforehand. Usually he unpacks the shopping, especially when the brunette doesn't know what's been bought. It's sort of a thing they've done since the years ago when both of them struggled with different mental illnesses, a safety net of sorts.
Though he supposes it shouldn't matter because it's been two years now and he should trust George's judgement. After all, it was him who struggled with his disorder not Dream so how would he know what levels of comfort the brunette needed when it came to food.
Shaking the thoughts from his head he turns his attention back to Adelia who sits babbling to herself and making noises, none of the things she's saying make any sense, all a bunch of random sounds strung together. However, he speaks back to her as though he understands her, a smile on his face as George carries the shopping into the kitchen.
The brunette places the bags down on the table with a huff, the fleeting thought of Dream buying bricks crossing his mind momentarily before he begins to unpack. It's unusual for him to be unpacking but he feels confident in himself, looking after Adelia for six months having increased his confidence greatly.
He pulls out each item one by one and places them on the table, from sweet to sour to savoury until all of them have been unpacked. His eyes look over the items quickly, it's been a while since they bought ice cream, almost a year and a half, though now it sits on their table looking at him.
Last time they bought ice cream it didn't go very well and Dream had ended up giving it to their neighbours a day after it was bought. Since then he hadn't brought it into their house once in fear of what might happen.
However, it's been over a year now and George has a child, they have a child, he can't afford to let himself be overwhelmed by the thoughts anymore. So with a momentary lapse in his judgement he lets out a huff, picking up the ice cream with tentative fingers and placing it into the freezer.
His hands shake slightly placing it in but upon pulling back he feels himself well up with pride, now all he has to do is eat the stuff. Though for now he shuts the freezer door, leaving the ice cream for another day deciding to move one step at a time towards his goals.
Besides, all he needs to focus on for now is unpacking the shopping whilst listening to Dream play with Adelia from the other room, nothing else.
But there's something nagging at him that he tries to ignore, something telling him he should've told Dream to take the ice cream away. They're stupid thoughts, ones that'll probably always be there for as long as he has memories and scars of what happened in the past.
Shaking his head, he makes his way back into the lounge to sit on the sofa, catching a knowing glance from Dream which he returns with a half assed smile before looking down at his lap and biting his lip slightly. It's not like he's nervous per se, but the thought that he will probably eat that worries him, he doesn't want a relapse so late in, nobody ever does.
Plus, he has Adelia now, he can't let something like that happen with her around. So instead he sucks it up and sits up straight, smiling towards Dream and running a hand through his hair. He's not going to be the one to fuck this all up.
