I crave academia.
I wish my brain worked in the ways of my professors, my classmates.
To analyze literature--
To write literature
Like a scholar
would be a dream
I wish I was academic
I don't understand what's holding me back.
Was I never meant to live in a lifetime where intelligence is valued over all?
Sometimes I wonder if I were to live in the nineteenth or twentieth centuries would I, as I am, be considered academic?
Then I look at the works of
Oscar Wilde
Emily Dickenson
Sylvia Plath
Henry David Thoreau
and realize that no, I would be another average woman like I already am.
