"I shouldn't have gone towards the danger knowing I could get hurt, it was stupid."
"I agree with you but it's not your fault. I should've not let you do that either way."
A couple minutes go by of just hugging. I miss all this we used to have, I never thought this is how our relationship would end up as.
"Ej?"
"Yes Alex?"
"I love you."
God, those words stung my heart.
I loved Mason more than the whole world,
He was my everything,
My joy and life.
But i don't know if I can trust him. Trusting him after the trauma I went through for a silly little fight. It's hard.
"I know I put you through a lot ej, you dealt with moving to a new place as a single pregnant mother and having to restart your life, I'm so sorry for that. I regret not being there, not being able to help you with whatever you need, not being able to see lily grow up. I was stupid, I know that now. You were my life ej. And I'm not trying to make an excuse or anything but when I was told that you were cheating I got so swept up in the fact that you were leaving me that I made myself distance myself from you. And I'm sorry I almost hit you. I swear on my life, lily's life, that's never something I want to do and something I will never even think of. I can't imagine living without you ej."
"Mason."
"Just please give me one more chance."
"Mason, I love you too. You have no idea how much I love you, leaving not only was a struggle but it was harder because I was doing it without you. I suffered every day for that." It hurts my heart to say this but it's the truth. "I don't know if I can trust you again."
The room goes silent I can tell that Mason knows what I mean.
"I know you can't trust me ej, but do you think we can take it slow, I can regain your trust and it'll be stronger than before. Please?"
"I'm willing to take it slow, start off as friends and co parents. Is that ok?"
He doesn't show it much but I can tell he jus got so happy inside.
God I love him.
I just wanna make sure that he won't leave me again, I'm already kinda of sure he won't but you have to be cautious when you have a kid, that kind of emotional trauma isn't good.
"Yes, yes of course it's ok. Thank you ej."
"There's nothing to thank me for Alex."
I kiss his forehead and he does the same to mine. We sat there in silence again, staring into his dark green eyes gives me butterflies. I can't let him know that though.
Lily breaks the silence running into the room squealing.
"Mommy! Your awake, guess what mommy! I made a friend, his name is Jordan!"
She drags in a small boy the same height as her.
He looks kind of like Jackie.
I look at Mason kind of confused.
"He's jax's nephew, he was taking care of lily so he brought his nephew over to company with someone her age."
I smile really hard. It's adorable to see Mason know so much about kids, more so taking care of his daughter, it makes me happy.
I feel like it's time I can tell her masons her dad, they're both ready for this.
"Lily, mommy wants to tell you something."
"Yes mommy?"
Mason looks at me confused, he probably has no idea I'm gonna say this.
"Lily, do you know who Mason is to you?"
"He's my best friend mommy!"
"Yes love, but he's also your father."
"He's my dad?"
"Yes baby! Your dads back and he's not leaving, he's staying with us and not leaving at all!"
"Really mommy! That's even better! Are we gonna stay with him? I'm gonna call him daddy now!!"
I giggle, Mason has a big smile on his face.
"Do you wanna move in?"
I think moving in would be so good for all of us, it's something that will benefit all of us.
"Why not."
I smile.
"Let's do it!"
I don't want to sell my house though, my house is one of my proud accomplishments. I worked so hard for my house, putting my blood sweat and tears into it.
I'll put it for lease, that way it will be used and I can get an extra form of income for me and lily. There's no way I'm gonna depend on a man for my financial security.
"Yayyy, we're moving in heree!"
Seeing lily happy makes me happy. This is our little family, me, Mason, and lily. Lily leaves to go play with Jordan and me and Mason are back to silence just smiling. He hugs me and we lay there for a while, My wrists hurt a lot.
"Mason?"
"Yeah?"
"My wrists hurt."
He gets up and lightly holds my wrists,
"We might have to change the gauze and bandages, I'll call a nurse."
Mason calls a nurse to bring the new bandages and tells her that he'll change them himself.
"I've been trained for a while to change bandages, it's part of the life I chose."
He changes my bandages and lays back on top of me hugging each other.
Eventually we both fall asleep.
