Claire's pov

The same day

I walked out of the restaurant out to the parking lot and got into my dark blue nissan. I started the engine and turned on the radio, I started belting out the lyrics to the song playing, I wanna dance with somebody.

I had driven for around 10 minutes when I felt like I had forgotten something but I didn't know what. So I pulled over and grabbed my bag trying to find my phone to call mia. Oh shit, that's what I've forgotten. My phone.

I turned the car around and made my way back to the restaurant. I don't understand how I left my phone there. I parked my car out front and made my way to the entrance door. I pulled out my keys ready to unlock the door but I found it still unlocked.

Which is weird, Mia always locks the door straight away when putting the garbage out.

The lights are all still on, I walk out to the locker room grabbing my phone but there's still no sign of mia. Where is she? Something must be wrong.

At that moment I decided to go look for mia. I searched everywhere, still nothing. So I went out back to the last place she was going. I opened the back door to the alley, I stood frozen, there she was laying on the ground. I ran over to her calling her name.

"Mia? Mia?"

There was no response, she was unconscious. I pulled out my phone, with a  shaky hand dialled 911 for an ambulance, I pulled Mia onto my lap. I can't believe why anyone would want to hurt her. She doesn't have any enemies well except Sarah but I don't think she would do anything like this. Right?

While I waited for the ambulance to arrive I checked Mia's pulse. Thank god she's alive. I don't know what I would do if she died.

A few minutes later, I heard the sirens and saw the flashing light coming from the ambulance. Two guys rushed over placing mia on a stretcher and then they walked over to the van placing mia in the back.

I watched the ambulance drive off in a flash with the sirens blaring. I rushed over locking the restaurant door and jumped into my car.

I gripped the steering wheel so much that my knuckles turned white. My heart was pounding out of my chest as I nervously drove behind the ambulance to the hospital. Within 5 minutes we arrived at the hospital, I quickly parked my car and ran inside.

A beautiful asian nurse walked over to me, "is there something I can help you with?"

"Yes, m..my friend she just came in," I replied.

"Hold on, let me check the charts"

I followed the nurse over to the reception desk.

"What was your friend's name?" The nurse asked.

"Mia Jenkins"

"Ahh yes, she came in about 3 minutes ago. She is on the third floor, room 2b"

"C..can I see her?" I asked.

"Oh, I'm sorry you can't right now. The doctor is in checking on her now"

"When can I see her?" I asked.

"Sweetie, you should head home and get some rest," said the nurse.

"No, I can't. I will stay here and wait to see her"

"Are you sure?" The nurse asked.

"Yeah"

"Okay. There's a cafeteria on the second floor if you get peckish. My shift ends at 5 in the morning, so if you need anything feels free to ask"
