Fraya’s pov

“Claire I don’t know what to do,” I said as I sighed looking down at the ground. “Elijah has lost it”

“Fraya give it time” she said as she shuffled closer to me on the couch and placed her hand on my arm. “ Mia meant a lot to him”

I snap my head up as I look her in the eyes trying to see what was going on in her head because somehow I feel there is a secret that I didn’t know about. It was something about the look in her eyes like she wanted to tell me something but didn’t. Why was she being so secretive? Sooner or later I will find out everything.

“She meant a lot to all of us and we are still living our life’s but that doesn’t give him the right to be reckless”

“Yes I know but they had…..” Claire paused as she started fidgeting with her hands.

“They had what?”

She sighed, “they had a special friendship”

Claire got a phone call and stood up to take it. I want to know everything. Is that too much to ask? I took a sip of water waiting for her to come back so we could finish this conversation. But sadly when she returned she had to leave. Leaving me with millions of questions.

After Claire left I sighed as I made my way upstairs. I found myself walking towards the room Mia stayed and died in. Reaching my shaky hand out I reached for the handle and opened the door.

My heartbeat pounded loud like thunder in a storm and my feet felt stuck in cement. Taking a breath I slowly walk into the room. The curtains were open letting in a little light but I still felt the emptiness in here.

I strolled over to the bed and noticed Mia’s stuff on the floor. I reach for her bag and place it on the bed while looking through. I smile to see the different variety of small snacks. Mia never went anywhere without a few snacks. Looking deeper I see her diary. I know I shouldn’t read it but Mia is dead so what’s the harm?

I slump down on the end of the bed looking down at her diary. I hesitantly open it and flip through a few pages. As I’m skimming the diary entries I stop when I see an ultrasound of Mia’s baby girl. I looked closer and noticed it was her first ultrasound when she was 5 weeks pregnant.

I still couldn’t believe that she was pregnant and I feel hurt that she didn’t tell me at all. I sigh as I flip to another page. My eyes stop when I see an entry about her ex.

It read,

Dear diary, for the first time in a while I feel like (name ) understands me and I can see a future with him. He’s the kindest and caring person I know so today is the day I tell him who I really am. Or what I am. And that I am carrying his child.

End of entry

As I turned the next page I realised that Mia wrote another entry on the same day at night.

It read,

Dear diary, I just told him everything and I can’t believe how he reacted. I made his favourite meal steak and chips then we sat down to eat and as he took a bite I stood up and blurted out that I’m PREGNANT! He almost choked on his steak. He sprung to his feet, wrapped his arms around me, spinning me in a circle. He said, "seriously I’m going to be a dad?"

Then it was time for the harder news. Yes I know breaking the news that I’m a witch is hard to take but that doesn’t mean he should have made death threats to me and the baby. He wanted to kill both of us. So after that night I packed up my things and was on the run. Hoping to get as far away as I could so he couldn't find me.
