Nyctophilia
(n.) love of the night or the darkness; finding relaxation or comfort in darkness

"Where are we going?"

"An adventure" Maeve raised a brow at me but didn't comment on it as she looked out of the window of the Uber car.

"Divine do you think if you wasn't forced to leave and you had stayed..do you think we would have remained friends for a long time?" Maeve then suddenly asks me.

I don't even have to think about it.

"No"

She looks at me with hurt eyes and I open my mouth to continue my statement. "Because I know at some point I would have finally grew the balls to tell you how much brighter my day is with you in. I would have been able to tell you how crazy you make me or how I always seem to have you on my mind. I would tell you how I always want to be in your presence because you make me want to be a better me just for you. You make me want to move mountains just so I can see a smile on your beautiful face" I admit.

The car grew silent as Maeve stared at me in shock.

I shouldn't have said that.

Shit.

"Maeve I—" I'm cut off by her lips crashing into mine as she leans forward quickly. I was stun for a moment before I responded, taking her face in my hands and kissing her back.

"You always did have a way with your words" she mumbles against my lips making me smile.

"Uh excuse me" I looked up to see our Uber driver looking at us through the rear view window.

"Yes?"

"We're here" She said and I looked out the window see we were at my house. I smile and thank the lady.

"We went back to the house?" Maeve asked as we both stepped outside the car. I nod and turn around to see the Uber lady talking to Maeve through the window but I couldn't hear what they were saying.

When Maeve finished, she hurried over to me and lightly smiled. "What was that about?" I ask.

She looked at me and shook her head. "Oh nothing" she says and we both walk into the house.

"I needed to bring the keys to Grey's car so we could go. Plus I thought we both would want to change." I say and walk to the garage.

"Yes, because this dress is giving me the itch in places it shouldn't" Maeve commented as she hurried up the stairs to change.

Oh?

I grab the keys and go upstairs to change as well. I change into some black sweatpants and a random hoodie from my drawer. "You ready?" I ask stepping in Maeve room to see her looking down at her phone, dressed in different clothes.

"Yeah" she says looking and walks over to me.

"Where are we going it's late" she comments and I don't respond as I take her hand.

"Let's just take a drive" I say making her smile.

We get in the car and I look at the car's clock to see it's twelve o'clock in the morning. Midnight. Maeve turned the radio on and let the windows down. The air was warm, not too cold.

"I don't want to go home" Maeve says as we drive down the open road.

"What do you mean?"

"I miss being here. I miss the feeling of home I use to have. I don't feel that in New York anymore." She clarifies as she sighs.
