PETER'S POV:
I sighed sitting down as Wade helped the tied up man up on his chair. I took a moment before speaking, still taking everything in. "So you're..."
"Kevin." The man impatiently interrupted me.
''Okay, Kevin...'' I continued, getting a quick glimpse of Wade behind me. ''How long have you been here?''
''Man, it's been... I dunno. Ages. Time passes by slow when you have to hear some crazy psycho's sob story.'' He raised one eyebrow. ''The things I've witnessed in this house these past weeks. Unbearable. I would much rather be dead. Is that what you're gonna do with me? Please get it over with already.'' He said through his teeth.
Truth is, Kevin did sound very tired. He is Wade's hostage after all. Wade is experienced in the field of torturing people to get information, however, this occasion seemed counterproductive of him as he claimed that Kevin hadn't told him anything. I looked back at Wade and he shrugged at me.
''How come he hasn't said anything?''
''Dude, I have no idea. Guy's mouth is like, wired shut. I can't get anything out of him. I'm always busting his balls and he still refuses to speak. Most people go crazy after spending this much time kidnapped by me.'' Wade confessed.
I took a moment to think, looking all over Kevin to check for any wounds.
''It's no use, he has a healing factor. The bullet wound is completely healthy now.'' Wade groaned behind me.
''Bullet wound?'' I raised one eyebrow.
''Your psycho boyfriend shot me.'' Kevin spat out.
''Well- In my defense!'' Wade started raising his voice, getting closer to Kevin. ''You knocked my chimichanga down. And used alien technology to replicate mine and Spidey's powers. And worked with someone who's goal is to kill both of us-''
''I was simply doing what I had to do.'' Kevin's eyes shot up to Wade, who had gotten uncomfortably close to him. ''Isn't that what you did? You know, the whole killing schtick?''
''I don't do that anymore.'' Wade growled.
''So wait, the only time Wade actually majorly injured you was when the-''
''The chimichanga incident, yes.'' Wade interrupted me. ''I mean- I had to do something-''
''So you're telling me that this man looks this tired just because he needs to hang out with you 24/7?''
''Well, if you put it that way-'' Wade gave me a fake dramatic pout.
''So you feed him, talk to him, and fully take care of him.'' I said in confusion.
''What's so thrilling about that?'' He asked.
''I don't know.'' I answered. ''I guess it's... oddly humane of you.'' I couldn't help but smile to myself a little. It really showed some true signs of change in Wade even when I was gone.
Kevin laughed out loud. ''You know, he's actually really lonely.'' He said looking at me with a grin. ''Wilson has been talking to nobody but me and himself lately. Which by the way, is very creepy.''
''Shut it Kevin. Not the time.'' Wade gave him a death stare.
''Maybe if he actually tortured me I would've said something, like, anything.'' Kevin kept laughing. ''Instead he went ahead and befriended the enemy.''
''AHA!'' Wade exclaimed. ''So we are friends!''
''What- that's not-'' Kevin mustered, looking back at Wade. ''I didn't mean it that way-''
''Awwe, you grew a soft spot for me, didn't you Kevin? It only makes sense! You've been listening so carefully to everything I have to say. What's with that tough guy attitude then, hm? You a softie deep inside?''
As Wade kept teasing Kevin, I took a moment to study the strange gems inside the bag once again. They were as confusing as they were last time. I thought that the best thing to do would be destroying them, but I couldn't really understand how to do that. Perhaps taking them to the Avenger's Facility would solve the problem. They could properly study them and keep them safe there.
The distant ongoing ramble between Wade and Kevin kept disturbing my thoughts.
''They didn't send out a search team for you, did they?'' I suddenly said out of impulse, joining the conversation again. Kevin stared at me dumbfounded and seemingly embarassed. He averted his gaze silently.
''What do you think?'' He sighed looking at the floor. ''I went missing, they probably searched for a few days and gave up. It happens. I was only a test subject to them after all. My healing factor didn't work well enough, they probably announced me dead or something.''
Wade stared at me with his eyes wide open in shock. I was also quite puzzled with the reaction. It was a really good start for some proper information.
''Why didn't it work well with you?'' I asked calmly.
''Cause I was one of the first ones. Hell, they didn't even include me in the team. I was nothing but an extra security guard for reinforcements, and I supplied them with the goods.''
''The goods?'' Wade crossed his arms and sat down on the couch in front of Kevin.
Kevin's head turned to the sack I was holding. ''Yeah, those goods.'' He sighed once again. ''You know what? We were no Weapon X. There are so many failed experiments and I'm clearly one of them.''
''Naw, man... You need more self respect here. You're no failed experiment.'' Wade comforted Kevin. ''Look at you! Your leg is good as new! Plus I really fucked up your face when we met and now you're all back to normal. Would a failed experiment do that? I don't think so.''
''Thank you Wade.'' Kevin said genuinely.
I was officially beyond confused with the atmosphere of this conversation. I decided to see where it would go, sitting down next to Wade as Kevin kept whining about his status where he previously worked.
