PETER'S POV:
One year ago.
"I need to get my mind off things." I told Karen as I was approaching the grocery store. I let go of my web. As I landed on the pavement I looked around to find an empty place to secretly put my normal clothes on. As weird as it seemed, at this time in the morning there weren't that many people walking outside.
What had happened the last day, it really got to me. Deadpool seemed to be killing people as a joke, and I had let him do his job once again yesterday. I was there, I could have saved that man.
I held responsibility for his death.
"Peter, your heart rate seems to be increasing fast. Are you alright?" Karen told me but didn't seem to snap me out of my thoughts.
I held responsibility for his death, just like I did for uncle Ben's death. Harry's death... Gwen's death.
I had only been Spider-Man for five years, and it had both been the most amazing and traumatizing time of my life.
From that guy on the internet, swinging around buildings wearing 'that hoodie'. Turning into that Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man. And eventually becoming an Avenger.
But with great power comes great responsibility. And I was too irresponsible. I lost my uncle because I was late, my childhood friend because I was the reason he sacrificed himself and Gwen because I couldn't save her in time.
I took my mask off, the mask all the world could see. The world only sees Spider-Man through that mask, a hero that always brought the happy ending.
But I only saw me, Peter Parker. I saw my mistakes repeating over and over.
I was now wearing a hoodie and jeans on top of my suit, I had taken off my mask so when I'd get inside the grocery store I wouldn't cause attention. I walked into the grocery store-
"Peter."
"Peter...."
"Peter!!!!"
Present Time.
"Peter! What's wrong?"
I felt myself sitting on a chair looking at the void. As I snapped myself out of it and slowly came back to reality, I realized that mr. Stark had been sitting in front of me at the kitchen table waving his hands for me to notice. I started blinking and looked around trying to understand what was happening.
"Someone get Bruce... Or Strange. Just get someone!" I turned around to where mr. Stark was facing while talking to see Steve and Natasha.
"No, wait." I said quietly looking back at mr. Stark.
"Finally." I saw him exclaim with his eyes widened as he turned right back to me. He had taken a moment before answering to me.
"Are you alright, kid?" Mr. Stark continued.
I looked around once again. "What am I doing here? Wasn't I sleeping?" I asked the three in confusion. "How long have I been here for?"
"When we came over to the kitchen you were already here. But according to Friday you've been here for a good two hours." Steve explained to me putting his palm on my back.
After what I was told I tried straightening my back a little, my body realizing slowly its pain of standing two hours on a chair while still injured.
"Well..." Natasha approached the side of the table that was in front of me. "Are you hungry? I should start fixing things since the others will be here soon, too."
