The Second Time Around

Chapter 11

‘Ta Dan, kapoy na ko.’ My little girl protested. 

After having lunch, we had this nonstop walking from Mango Ave to Osmena Blvd where Crown Regency was located and the Lings staying. 

We would stop from time to time kasi marami din nagpapapicture kay Kiefer, and minsan nasasama ako. The streets are jampacked with people from different places. Foreigners and locals. 

Street party at its finest. 

Nasa likod lang kami nina Mimi and Dani, kaya when I heard that Mimi’s tired na, I took her in my arms, kawawa naman my baby. Sweaty and yung face paint niya di na maistura.

‘Kawawa naman my baby. Come, Papa will carry you.’ Kiefer said and kinuha si Mimi sa akin and settle Kierra in his shoudler, his head in between Mimi’s legs. What a sight. 

‘Mimi wag malikot ah, mahulog ka.’ I said and we started walking again. Malapit lapit na din naman ang Crown Regency, isang liko na lang.

‘Wohooo! Wohoooo! Wohooo!’ A group of teens drinking, and dancing to Sinulog ang nadaanan namin.

Then someone make saboy some colored powder at us.

‘Aaaaaaaah!’ Mimi shouted. ‘I’m dirty already!’ Pagprotesta pa niya.

‘It’s alright baby, it’s part of Sinulog man.’ I said na lang para di na magmaktol.

Now covered with colors.

‘Ma, buy me water muna. Nauuhaw ako.’ Kiefer asked. We stopped at a both just near Robinsons and bought water for him. As I am buying some water, people are flocking at Kiefer and Dani. Sikat talaga ng magkakapatid na to. Picture dito picture dun, and since karga karga pa rin ni Kiefer si Mimi, nasasali na din sa picture taking. Sikat din kaya ng anak ko.

‘You good?’ I asked as he finished that one bottle of water in one go. Uhaw na uhaw nga si Manong.

We started walking again. He put Mimi sa ground na din kasi Kierra wants to walk na daw. So I took Kierra’s right hand, while si Kiefer sa left hand naman. Sway sway pa while walking. 

Enjoy na enjoy ang anak. This is what she really wants, Papa and Mama holding her hands while walking. Dream niya talaga yun, and that dream became reality today.

‘Mama, Papa, this moment is for keeps. Love you two!’ She said and tugging us.
