Chapter 18

My feet tremble as I run to Ki who lies there covered in blood. The bus driver scrambles out and puts an arm over my shoulder which I shrug away.

"Its okay son,an ambulance is on it's way."
"Ki." I whisper.

We wait until the ambulance comes and I sit beside Ki,not looking into his cold eyes as I feel my phone vibrate and see it's Tiffany.

"Hello?" I gasp "Hello!"
"Tom?"
"Tiffany?"
"What's wrong."
"Ki... He's.. Get to the hospital."
"I don't understand-"

I hang up and lean down to Ki.

"It'll be okay. I promise."

I'm pulled away when he's taken for operation to see Tiffany sitting there as I run into her arms,crying loudly.

"Don't cry." She whispers "Remember what you said before."
"I lied."
"No you didn't."
"You said so yourself."
"People believe in different things."
"I'm sorry for what I said this morning."
"Forget it happened Tom."

She pulls me to a chair and sits me down and hands me a tissue.
"He'll be okay."
"What if he isn't,what if he forgets everything?"
"Ki's not like that,you're his best friend,you should know that."
"I don't know what's right or what's wrong anymore."
"Come on,let's go home."
"No-"
"Come on."
"Get off!"

She grabs me and yanks me out.

"They'll call you if there's any news.. He would've wanted you to go home."

Once we arrive home she's sits me down and wraps a blanket around me.

"I'm going on Tom. Will you be okay?"
"Yeah. I'll be fine."
"Good,I won't be long. Love you."

Once she's out the door I don't believe what's she's just said..

"I.. I love you too."

I feel like collapsing but I decide to do some last minute revision,but my mind can only focus on Ki. As I feel my phone start to ring again.. I check to see it's Tiffany.

"Tiff?"
"Hey. Something's wrong."
"What do you mean?"
"Help..." Her voice breaks into tears.
"Where the fuck are you?"
"Near the park."
"I'll be right there."

I run as fast as I find her sitting there crying on a bench.

"Tiff?"

She looks at me..

"Come on." I pull her arms.
"I want to stay here."
"You can't.. Not at this time."
"Let me escape."
"From what?"
"From being me."
