Impossible to Love {Ki Hong Lee}

Chapter 21

I wake up to the ringing of my phone,I check and see it's Ki's mum.

"Hello Thomas."
"Hi."
"Do you want to see Ki today in hospital?"
"Sure."
"You could come after school?"
"No that's okay. I'm fine bunking off."
"Um.. I don't think so love."
"No it's fine, see you later, bye."

I hang up then get dressed,get the car and drive as quick as I can to the hospital. Ki's mum is waiting for me outside and I follow her into a room. Ki sits there, starches across his face.

"Hey Ki."
"Hi."
"Is everything all right?"
"No.."
"What's up?"
"Everything's gone.. I don't.. I don't know anything."
"You must remember some stuff.."
"My names Ki Hong Lee,I'm sixteen,you're my best friend Thomas Sangster,I was hit by a stupid car and Tiffany.."
"She really misses you."
"Can't I see her?"
"She's in hospital too."
"What happened?"
"She had a breakdown. But right now you just need to focus on yourself."
"How was the exam?"
"Okay. You'll be able to do it soon."
"And get an F or U."
"Don't say that."
"I'm not like you. Or your sister,I don't even see why she likes me."
"Opposites attract." I say quoting Olivia.
"You're the only ones I've got now Tom."
"What about your parents?"
"You're the only ones who really understand me." I see tears in his eyes as they appear in my own.
"All right,stop fucking crying." I wipe my eyes as we both start to laugh "So how long till you get out of here?"
"Two days."
"That's not long."
"Not for you."
"Is there anything I can do Ki?"
"No. Thanks anyway."
"No problem."

Once I leave him I walk to the building where Tiffany is,she's there like yesterday,reading a book.

"Hey." I say.
"Hi."
"Feeling any better?"
"A little."
"Well today I was just walking and I-"
"Tom why are you here?"
"I wanted to see you."
"You promise you won't tell mum and dad any of this?"
"Yes."
"Swear?"
"I promise."
"You can't trust anyone. The truth hurts."
"Then why did you tell me about Ki?"
"Because you and Ki matter more to me than the truth does."
"So do you."
"Do you think I'm crazy."
"No."
"How's your girlfriend?"
"Okay."
"You like her? Tell me you like her."
"I do."
"Then why?"
"I can't ever see myself being in love."
"You're not me. Of course you can."
"I don't know."
"Yes you do. Now,I think you should go."
"Okay,bye."
"Goodbye."

I walk away from the room and outside as I find a bench which I sit down on,checking my phone to see a text from dad-

Everything okay?

It's great!😃

Is Tiffany all right?

Yeah. She's fine.

See you soon. Two months to go!

Yeah bye.

I put my phone back in my pocket then walk back home,there's no point going into school. So I just decide to revise whilst a random film plays in the background,I find it all to boring so I walk round the house then into Tiffany's room,I hadn't seen it for ages. It's too messy,covered in posters or rock stars and clothes all around the place. I sigh then move all the clothes into the wardrobe,picking up any junk then shoving most of it away in the draws on her dresser,I strip the bed then replace it with clean sheets,hovering up then opening up the blinds to let some light into the darkness. She basically lived in that room,maybe it was to hide her sadness and pain to the world. Maybe it was that she was too scared to see what the world had become. A mad mad place.
