"Hey, Peter! Stop!" Wanda yelled down the hallway on the lowest level of the compound.
Peter sprinted off towards the room at the end of the hall. Two guards were posted outside a steel door, holding high-powered weapons.
"Let me through." he told the guards as he attempted to enter.
One of them pulled his hand from the handle and stood in front of the door. Peter took a step back, confused. Wanda had caught up by now and was stood behind him.
She put a hand on his shoulder, "C'mon Peter, let's go watch a film upstairs."
The boy shrugged her off and spun round quickly, "No, I've got to see Ana."
"Look, we'll talk to Fury later and see if we can visit then. For now I think it's best if you calm down." she looked at him sympathetically.
He nodded slowly and Wanda turned, expecting Peter to follow. Instead he webbed up one of the guards to the wall and took the other's weapon, smashing it over their head. Peter dragged their bodies clear of the door and opened it. He entered the room where he saw a large one-way window on the left wall and an array of computers with one man monitoring them.
He stood up from his chair, "What are you doing in here? None of The Avengers have authorisation to be in here."
"Oh, Director Fury said I could come tell Ana that her dog is okay and being taken care of." the boy lied through a smile.
The man narrowed his eyes at him, "I'm going to have to check that with Director Fury."
As the man picked up the phone, Peter webbed his hand to it and the man looked at him angrily.
"Sorry about this." Peter apologised before punching the man across the jaw.
The man landed in the chair and Peter used his webs to secure him too it. Before the man could complain, he webbed his mouth and kicked his chair into the corner.
Peter looked through the window. Ana was seated at a metal table in a grey wall. She was cuffed to a bar in the middle of the table, much like an average prison cell. The girl was alone, staring at the wall opposite her.
The boy looked at the range of technology on the table below him. One of the computers had a live feed of the camera facing Ana and another was reading her vitals. He disabled both computers before walking over to the door. It was locked.
He thought for a moment and looked over to the man tied to the chair. Peter walked over and yanked off his ID card from his belt. He scanned it on the pad and the light turned green. Pushing open the door, the boy made sure to put something in the way of the door closing again. Ana didn't turn around.
Peter walked in front of the table and she finally looked at him.
"Peter?" she questioned, "What are you doing here?"
He pulled out the chair and sat down, "I came to see if you're alright. When we came back you were gone. Fury gave me Arnold and said to look after him for a while."
"I'm glad you got him. I thought some traitor like Jim would get him." Ana rolled her eyes.
Peter chuckled before turning serious, "Why are you down here, Ana?"
"I tried to leave. I was sat in the war room with Maria and I saw all those people dying for no reason. It reminded me of HYDRA. I can't be apart of this, Peter. It's not right." Ana looked at her hands.
Silence filled the air. Peter agreed with what Ana was saying; no one should have to die for no reason. But at the same time, Loki's army was terrorising the country and they needed to be stopped.
"Maybe we could talk to Fury and see if there is a better way to go about defeating Loki? That way you could stay." Peter smiled.
Ana shook her head, "I don't know, Pete. I don't know if this is my fight."
As Peter was about to respond, Tony, Nick, Steve and Natasha burst in the room.
"What are you doing in here, kid?" Tony asked.
Peter stood up, "I had to talk to Ana. Nobody would let me in, so I let myself in."
"Nick, why is my sister cuffed to a table? You said she was talking to a therapist." Nat looked from Ana to Fury.
"She's going to talk to a therapist, we just had to make sure she would stay put." Nick gestured to the room.
"It looks more like an interrogation room." Steve spoke.
Tony nodded, "I agree."
"What's actually going on here?" Natasha turned to Nick.
Fury cleared his throat, "S.H.I.E.L.D is concerned that if Ana is loose in the world, Loki might contact her and they could join forces."
Ana scoffed, "Wow, you really do have no faith in me, Nick."
"It's nothing personal, Ana. We're just protecting the people." Fury shrugged.
Ana laughed, "By killing countless soldiers without cause? Very heroic."
Fury looked at the girl, confused.
"I watched as S.H.I.E.L.D agents died on that mission and you did nothing about it. You could've not engaged. Loki's not going to think of looking for the President in Alaska first, is he?" Ana asked.
"It was a diversion technique. Something a foot soldier like you wouldn't understand." Nick said exasperated.
Ana looked at him, hurt. She kew better than anyone how it felt to be used for someone else's political gain.
"Okay, enough of this. I think it's time you release Ana." Steve turned to Fury with crossed arms.
Nick crossed his arms too, "Sorry, Captain. I can't do that."
Steve nodded. He walked over to the table and yanked the chain of the handcuffs, breaking it.
"Then I think it's time for us to leave, Director. We will deal with Loki on our own for now on." Steve offer his hand to Ana.
The girl got up and all of them left the room, leaving Nick alone.
