Dedicated to Penny

Scott got on the mounting block, ready to ride. He pulled his horse, Penny, up to the step. He hopped on and fixed his stirrups, making them just perfect. "Ready, Pen-Pen?" he asked. She whinnied in response. He lightly kicked her sides and she took off.

She trotted around the arena, her bridle shimmering in the sunlight.

Scott enjoyed riding Penny the most.

The way she made him feel alive.

Like there was nothing surrounding him.

Like he was free at last.

He kissed to her, pushing his left leg in and kicking with his right.

She picked up the canter.

This was Scott's favorite part of riding.

He made her do a couple more laps around the arena. After she finished, he took Penny to her stall. He didn't exactly own Penny, but he wanted to. Nobody really liked Penny. Nobody could ride Penny as well as he could. She listened to him.

There was a special connection between them.

Bonding was their superpower.

He finished brushing her.

After he was done with everything- taking the saddle pads, saddle, bridle, halter, and boots off, the barn owner came up to him.

"I'm sorry, I know you love her. But, you know she is just a lesson horse. Nobody can handle her except for you. The only way you can keep her is by buying her. We have to sell her."

Scott wanted to buy her, he really did, but it was impossible.

He couldn't afford it.

He just couldn't do it.

Scott realized that he would never see her again.

They were taking Penny back to her original owners.

It wasn't fair!

"Penny!" Scott yelled, running to her and wrapping his arms around the small horse. She licked his hand, which was their sign of friendship between them. They couldn't be separated. It was heartbreaking, yet Scott couldn't do any thing to stop them.

Well,

I love you, Penny.

A/N- My barn brought Penny back to her original owners. I found this out today. I loved her with all my heart. She was one of the only horses that I had a special connection with.

I can't get her back because I would never be able to afford her. I'm devastated. Do you know how hard this is for me? I can't stand it! I thought it was some stupid, late April fool's joke. But, no, they told me when I was there today. I broke down.

They all tried to comfort me. There was no way I could be happy about this.

Even though nobody likes her except me and a few other people, they didn't have to give her back! I love her! They told me at the WORST time-

I was walking to her stall to go visit her. She wasn't in her stall, so I figured she was in the paddock or being visited by the farrier, who does the horse's horseshoes/feet. I stood by her stall for a couple more minutes until one of my trainers and one of my friends came up to me, with a sympathetic look on their faces.

They told me-

"Penny's gone."

Do you know how hard it is to hear that!?

To hear.. To know that your never going to see her ever again!?

It's hard.

I miss you, Penny.

And most of all-

I love you, Penny.
