The edge of the courtyard. ROBYN is standing in clear sight, pacing.

Enter THE GIRL.

THE GIRL: Robyn.

ROBYN: Hey! (Robyn runs up towards THE GIRL as though to throw her arms around her, but at the last minute she slows and composes herself) I- I missed you. Here, lemme walk you to the parking lot...

THE GIRL: Yeah! I just wanted to know if you were ok.

ROBYN: Why would I not be? I was waiting- uh, I mean, I was wanting to, uh...just hanging. And it's the last day. ANYWAYS!!! How were your finals?

They continue forwards.

THE GIRL: I think I will get an A.

ROBYN: Marvelous! I'm betting on that too. I'm gonna go out on a limb and say you're an A student.

THE GIRL: Yes!

ROBYN: Ayyye!

THE GIRL: You?

ROBYN: Oh. My GPA plummeted. Family problems.

THE GIRL: Oh, no...

ROBYN: Oldest sister cut me off from funding. Actually, I cut her off first, though. We talked through it, though. We knocked on each others' cans.

THE GIRL: How were finals?

ROBYN: Oh, me? Yeah, I am doing well! I think...I...(whispers) Don't ever laugh like that...

THE GIRL stops and faces her.

THE GIRL: You okay?

ROBYN: I'm fine. In fact, I'm perfectly stellar. I just decided to... (beat) ...I was eagerly waiting because I'm going to celebrate at the tea shop. For end of finals. And if you're free...do come. Or don't. I'm not gonna be...offended.

THE GIRL: You're really sweet. But I'm tired, so I think I'll head off home.

ROBYN: Ahah, really?

THE GIRL: My husband will be worried.

ROBYN: Husband, huh.

THE GIRL: We've been married a year already.

ROBYN: Then, by all means, I hope you guys are happy and healthy and have seven children!

THE GIRL: (Laughs again) That's a lot!

ROBYN: There's your car...

THE GIRL: yep, there's my car.

ROBYN: Of course. How did I do?

THE GIRL: What?

ROBYN: Nothing.

THE GIRL: Well, it was nice meeting you.

ROBYN stretches out her arms in a hug. THE GIRL accepts. When they part, ROBYN'Ssarms visibly linger.

ROBYN: Good bye, good bye!

Exit THE GIRL.

ROBYN staggers onto a bench.

Enter NATHAN.

NATHAN: So! How did that feel?

ROBYN: Like an angel's wings...

NATHAN: Robyn, I'm really, really sorry.
